DracoFoam Infekt is a foam wound dressing that was specially developed for infected wounds.It offers a silver-free solution to combat infections in chronic and acute wounds.The polyurethane foam contains antimicrobial polyhexanide (PHMB), which inactivates microorganisms.This polyhexanide acts as a barrier, absorbing microorganisms from the wound exudate and preventing the colonization and spread of bacteria within the dressing.This reduces the germ load and wound infections can be prevented or contained.

The wound dressing is characterized by a powerful exudate absorption and evaporation rate.It promotes granulation by arching against the wound base and thus contributes to faster wound healing.Polyhexanide does not show any absorption or development of resistance, which makes its use pleasant for the patient.The particularly good tissue compatibility allows it to be used even if the skin surrounding the wound is not intact.The foam wound dressing does not stick to the wound, which minimizes pain when changing the dressing.It enables good gas exchange and creates an ideally moist wound climate, which also makes it suitable for the treatment of chronic and secondary healing wounds.

DracoFoam Infekt can be used to treat heavily exuding wounds, for acute and chronic, moderately to heavily exuding wounds in the exudation and granulation phase.It is also suitable for superficial wounds, leg ulcers, decubitus ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, second degree burns and skin donor areas.The wound dressing can be used under compression therapy and is not self-adhesive.For example, it can be optimally fixed with the elastic fixation bandages DracoSumbi or DracoElfi.

Areas of application

DracoFoam Infection is suitable for pressure sores, leg ulcers, diabetic foot syndrome, secondary wound healing disorders, abrasions, iatrogenic wounds, lacerations, scratches, bite wounds, lacerations, split skin removal, burns up to 2nd degree and infected wounds.

The wound dressing is suitable for intact, non-intact and fragile skin surrounding the wound.

DracoFoam Infection can be used for infection, necrosis and fibrin plaque.
