Instructions for use of Amflee 2.5 mg/ml spray solution for cats and dogs

Amflee® 2.5 mg/ml cutaneous spray is a solution for cats and dogs.The active ingredient in this veterinary medicine is fipronil.It is used to treat flea and tick infestations on dogs and cats.It can also be used against lice (Trichodectes canis) in dogs and against lice (Felicola subrostratus) in cats.The remedy can also be used as part of a treatment plan to control flea allergy dermatitis.

The insecticidal effectiveness against new infestations with adult fleas lasts for up to 2 months in cats and up to 3 months in dogs, depending on the infestation pressure from the environment.The veterinary medicinal product has a persistent acaricidal effect against ticks for up to 4 weeks, also depending on the infestation pressure.

No prescription is required for this product.

Areas of application

Amflee® 2.5 mg/ml spray is used to treat flea and tick infestations in dogs and cats.It can also be used for lice infestations in dogs and cats.It can also be used as part of a treatment plan to control flea allergy dermatitis.

Type of application

The spray is applied mechanically by pumps.Each pump releases 0.5 ml (100 ml bottle), 1.5 ml (250 ml bottle) or 3 ml (500 ml bottle) spray.Spray the animal's entire body against the grain of the hair at a distance of approximately 10 to 20 cm.Make sure the entire coat is moistened.For long-haired animals, you should position the fur so that the solution can reach the skin.

For treating the head region and for young or nervous pets, you can spray the solution onto a gloved hand and then rub into the fur.Allow the fur to dry naturally.

Dosage

To moisten the coat down to the skin, apply 3 to 6 ml per kg of body weight, which corresponds to 7.5 to 15 mg of active ingredient per kg of body weight.This corresponds to 6 to 12 pumps per kg of body weight of the 100 ml pack, 2 to 4 pumps of the 250 ml pack or 1 to 2 pumps of the 500 ml pack.

Properties

The formulation contains a film former that leaves a shiny film on the fur after spraying.Dogs and kittens aged 2 days and over can be treated safely.

Instructions for correct use

Adjust the pump nozzle for spray setting.The 100 ml pack contains approximately 8 treatments for a short-haired, medium-sized cat (4 kg).The 250 ml pack contains approximately 4 treatments for a short-haired, medium-sized dog (20 kg).The 500 ml pack contains approximately 4 treatments for a short-haired, large dog (40 kg).

The minimum interval between two treatments should not be less than 4 weeks.To optimally eliminate a flea and/or tick infestation, a treatment plan can be drawn up according to the local epidemiological situation.Bathing or shampooing up to 4 times in 2 months does not have a significant impact on the duration of effectiveness of the veterinary medicinal product.If shampooing is more frequent, monthly treatments are recommended.

Special storage instructions

Keep medicines out of the reach of children.Do not store above 25°C.Highly flammable.Protect from direct sunlight.Do not use the veterinary medicinal product after the expiry date stated on the bottle and carton.The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.Shelf life of the veterinary medicinal product after the first opening/opening of the container: 1 year.

Warnings for the user

This veterinary medicinal product may cause mucous membrane and eye irritation.Avoid contact with mouth or eyes.After accidental contact with the eye, rinse it carefully with clean water immediately.Persons with known hypersensitivity to the active substance or to alcohol or with asthma should avoid contact with the veterinary medicinal product.Avoid contact with skin.If the veterinary medicinal product gets on the skin, it must be washed immediately with soap and water.

Treated animals should not be touched and children should not play with treated animals until their fur is completely dry.Only spray animals with the veterinary medicinal product outdoors or in well-ventilated areas.Do not inhale spray mist.Do not eat, drink or smoke during use.Wear waterproof PVC or nitrile gloves during application.Wash hands with soap and water after use.Wash spills immediately from skin with soap and water. If irritation occurs, seek medical advice immediately.

Treatment of multiple animals

Good ventilation must be ensured if several animals are to be treated at the same time.Always treat several animals outdoors or remove the animals from the treatment room to avoid high alcohol concentrations in the room air due to alcohol evaporation.Make sure that the treatment room is well ventilated between individual treatments and that the drying room is well ventilated and avoid combining several freshly treated animals in this room.
