Amflee 2.5 mg/ml spray is a solution for external use on the skin of cats and dogs. It contains the active ingredient fipronil and is used for the treatment of flea and tick infestations in dogs and cats and of hairfly infestations in dogs and cats. The veterinary medicinal product can also be used as part of a treatment for flea allergy dermatitis. The efficacy against fleas lasts up to 2 months in cats and up to 3 months in dogs, depending on the infestation pressure from the environment. Against ticks, the veterinary medicinal product is effective for up to 4 weeks, depending on the infestation pressure from the environment. It is recommended to read the package leaflet before use and to consult the veterinarian or pharmacist in case of risks and side effects. The veterinary medicine is applied in the form of a mechanical pump spray to the entire body of the animal. The dosage depends on the hair length and is 3 to 6 ml per kg body weight. The coat should not be rubbed dry, but allowed to dry naturally. The veterinary medicinal product is highly flammable and should be kept out of direct sunlight and out of the reach of children. It should not be used on species other than cats and dogs and should not be used by pregnant or nursing cats. In case of accidental eye contact, the eye should be immediately rinsed thoroughly with water and veterinary advice sought. The veterinary medicine may cause irritation to mucous membranes and eyes and should therefore not come into contact with the mouth or eyes. It is recommended not to get too close to treated animals until their fur is completely dry. The veterinary medicinal product is for external use only and should not be ingested. It should also not be inhaled and should not be eaten, drunk or smoked during application. It is recommended to wear waterproof gloves and a waterproof apron during application and to wash hands thoroughly with soap and water afterwards. If irritation occurs, medical advice should be sought immediately. The veterinary medicinal product may only be applied outdoors or in well-ventilated rooms, and the spray mist must not be inhaled. When treating several animals, care should be taken to ensure good ventilation to avoid high concentrations of alcohol in the room air. Amflee 2.5 mg/ml spray is available in household quantities and should be applied every 4 weeks to ensure optimal protection. The veterinary medicine does not affect the duration of efficacy with frequent bathing or shampooing and can also be used in combination with a suitable insecticide to treat baskets, carpets and upholstered furniture to reduce flea infestation in the environment.
