Biomopedicul 0.5% solution

BiomoPedicul is a medicine used to treat head lice (Pediculus capitis) in adults and children aged three and over.The active ingredient permethrin belongs to the group of pyrethrins, which occur naturally in certain plants, such as some types of chrysanthemums.The solution is colorless, odorless and easy to use.No prescription is required for this product.

Area of application

BiomoPedicul is used for a one-time external treatment of the hair in the event of a head lice infestation.It is not suitable for use in infants under two months of age.Contact with eyes, mucous membranes and open wounds should be avoided.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The active ingredient in BiomoPedicul is permethrin.100 ml of the solution contains 430.0 mg permethrin 25/75 (cis/trans).The other ingredients are ethanol 96%, 2-propanol, purified water, propylene glycol (E 1520) and sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate.

Application

BiomoPedicul is only intended for external use on the hairy scalp and hair.Before use, the hair is washed and toweled.The solution is massaged evenly into the still slightly damp hair, paying particular attention to the areas near the scalp, as this is where most lice and nits are found.The amount required depends on the thickness of the hair: For short hair, around 25 ml is sufficient, for longer hair around 50 ml is required, and for very long and thick hair, even more.

The solution should be used undiluted and not with shampoo, soap or other care products.It must be left on the uncovered hair for 30 to 45 minutes before washing out with clean, warm water.Before drying your hair, all lice eggs (nits) should be combed out with a special lice comb.

To ensure full effectiveness, the hair must not be washed with shampoo for at least the first three days after use.Checks for treatment success should be carried out with a lice comb as often as possible, preferably on the day after treatment and around 4 to 5, 8 to 10 and 14 to 16 days after application.

If live lice are found after 7 to 10 days, treatment should be repeated.If live lice are still found after 14 to 20 days, the treating doctor should be consulted to examine suitable alternative treatment methods.

Contraindications

BiomoPedicul must not be used if there is an allergy to permethrin, other pyrethrin-based products, chrysanthemums or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.It is not suitable for newborns and infants under two months.

Dosage

BiomoPedicul should always be used exactly as described or after consultation with a doctor or pharmacist.For children up to three years of age, no more than 25 ml should be used.As a rule, a single application is sufficient.If necessary, the treatment can be repeated after 7 to 10 days.In persistent epidemics, it is often necessary to treat all members of a community at the same time.

Patient information

Before use, you should speak to a doctor or pharmacist, especially when treating infants or if you are known to be allergic to chrysanthemums or other composite plants.Treatment should only be carried out if lice eggs or live lice are detected.People applying permethrin are advised to wear gloves.

BiomoPedicul can worsen the symptoms of asthma or skin inflammation.It is harmful to all types of insects and aquatic creatures, so care should be taken to ensure that the solution does not get into aquariums and terrariums.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.As a precautionary measure, BiomoPedicul should not be used during pregnancy unless your doctor recommends it.Permethrin can pass into breast milk, so if you are breastfeeding you should take a break from breastfeeding for three days after use.
