Instructions for use of Fipralone 134 mg spot-on solution for medium-sized dogs

Fipralone 134 mg spot-on solution is a veterinary medicinal product for medium-sized dogs (10 - 20 kg) with the active ingredient fipronil.It is used to treat flea and tick infestations.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and other ingredients

1 ml of the solution contains 100 mg of fipronil.One pipette of Fipralone contains different amounts of Fipronil depending on the size of the dog:

For small dogs (S): 0.67 ml with 67 mg fipronil.

For medium dogs (M): 1.34 ml with 134 mg fipronil.

For large dogs (L): 2.68 ml with 268 mg fipronil.

For very large dogs (XL): 4.02 ml with 402 mg fipronil.

Other ingredients are butylhydroxyanisole E320 and butylhydroxytoluene E321.The amounts of these ingredients also vary depending on the size of the dog.

Areas of application

Fipralone is used to treat flea and tick infestations in dogs.The insecticidal activity against fleas lasts up to 8 weeks, while the acaricidal activity against ticks lasts up to 4 weeks.The product can also be used as part of a treatment plan to control flea allergy dermatitis (FAD) if previously diagnosed by a veterinarian.

Contraindications

Fipralone should not be used in puppies under 2 months old or weighing less than 2 kg.The product must also not be used on sick or recovering animals, rabbits and cats.In addition, it should not be used if you are hypersensitive to the active ingredient or any of the other ingredients.

Side effects

If the animal licks the solution, increased salivation may occur.Rarely, temporary skin reactions at the application site such as skin discoloration, local hair loss, itching or redness of the skin may occur.In exceptional cases, increased salivation, neurological symptoms, vomiting or breathing problems have been observed.If side effects occur, you should inform your veterinarian or pharmacist.

Dosage and application

Fipralone is used externally.The dosage depends on the dog's body weight:

1 Pipette of 0.67 ml for dogs between 2 and 10 kg.

1 Pipette of 1.34 ml for dogs between 10 and 20 kg.

1 Pipette of 2.68 ml for dogs between 20 and 40 kg.

1 Pipette of 4.02 ml for dogs between 40 and 60 kg.

For dogs over 60 kg, two 2.68 ml pipettes are used.

The pipette should be held vertically and the contents applied to the animal's skin.Care should be taken to ensure that the animal does not lick off the solution.

Special Notes

Shampooing one hour before treatment does not affect its effectiveness.Bathing and intensive wetting should be avoided for two days after treatment.The product does not prevent ticks from infesting the animal, but kills them within 24-48 hours.If there is an intensive flea infestation, the animal's resting places should also be treated.

Storage and disposal

Fipralone should be kept out of the reach of children and stored at temperatures below 30°C.The product must not enter water bodies as it poses a danger to fish and other aquatic organisms.Unused veterinary medicines should preferably be disposed of at pollutant collection points.
