This is how Ginkgo STADA® works

Ginkgo has been used as a medicinal plant in Chinese medicine for thousands of years.The extract in Ginkgo STADA® obtained from the Ginkgo biloba leaves promotes blood circulation in the brain and can therefore increase memory performance and improve concentration.

Ginkgo STADA® contains ginkgo biloba dry extract as the active ingredient.One film-coated tablet contains 120 mg of quantified, refined dry extract of Ginkgo biloba leaves (35-67: 1), extracted with acetone 60% (m/m).The extract is quantified to contain 22.0-27.0% flavonoids, calculated as flavonol glycosides, 2.8-3.4% ginkgolides A, B and C, 2.6-3.2% bilobalide and contains a maximum of 5 ppm ginkgolic acids.

The other ingredients are: Tablet core: croscarmellose sodium, colloidal silicon dioxide, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate (vegetable), microcrystalline cellulose, spray-dried glucose syrup.Filming: Opadry II White 85 F18422, consisting of: macrogol 3350, poly(vinyl alcohol), talc, titanium dioxide (E 171), iron (III) hydroxide oxide x H2O (E 172).

Contraindications

This medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to Ginkgo biloba extract or any of the other ingredients of this medicine or if you are pregnant.

Dosage

Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.The recommended dose for adults and elderly patients is 1 film-coated tablet twice daily, in the morning and evening.Treatment should last at least 8 weeks.If there is no improvement in the symptoms after 3 months or if the symptoms of the disease worsen, the doctor should check whether continuing treatment is still justified.

If you take more than you should, contact your doctor or seek medical advice.Do not take a double dose if you forget to take the previous dose.

Intake

The film-coated tablets are taken orally and swallowed whole with liquid, preferably a glass of drinking water.It can be taken regardless of meals.

Patient information

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine if you have a pathologically increased bleeding tendency, if you are also being treated with blood-thinning medication, if you are known to have a seizure disorder, if an operation is planned in the next 3 to 4 days or if you are taking efavirenz.Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if symptoms worsen with treatment.

There have been no adequate studies on the effects on the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

Since there is some evidence that preparations containing ginkgo could increase the risk of bleeding, this medicine must not be taken during pregnancy.This medicine should not be used during breastfeeding as there are no sufficient studies.
