This is how Ginkgo STADA® works

Ginkgo has been used as a medicinal plant in Chinese medicine for thousands of years.The dry extract of Ginkgo biloba leaves contained in Ginkgo STADA® promotes blood circulation in the brain and can therefore improve memory performance and increase concentration.

Application

Adults and older people should take three film-coated tablets twice daily, morning and evening.Treatment should last at least eight weeks.No prescription is required for this product.

Ingredients

Active ingredient: 40 mg ginkgo leaf dry extract, extracted with acetone-water (35-67:1).This corresponds to 9.8 mg ginkgo flavon glycosides, 1.12-1.36 mg ginkgolide A-ginkgolide B-ginkgolide C (x:y:z), 1.04-1.28 mg bilobalide and a maximum of 0.2 µg ginkgolic acids.

Other ingredients: Croscarmellose sodium, colloidal silicon dioxide, lactose-1 water, magnesium stearate (vegetable), microcrystalline cellulose, spray-dried glucose syrup, Opadry II white (consisting of macrogol 3350, poly(vinyl alcohol), talc, titanium dioxide, yellow iron (III) oxide hydrate).

Contraindications

Ginkgo STADA® must not be taken if you are allergic to Ginkgo biloba extract or any of the other ingredients of this medicine or if you are pregnant.

Dosage

The recommended dose for adults and elderly patients is three film-coated tablets twice daily.There is no relevant area of application for children and adolescents.There are no data on dosage in cases of impaired kidney or liver function.

Treatment should last at least eight weeks.If there is no improvement in symptoms after three months or if the symptoms of the disease worsen, the doctor should check whether continued treatment is still justified.

Intake

The tablets should be swallowed whole with liquid, preferably a glass of drinking water.It can be taken regardless of meals.

Patient information

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine if you have an abnormal tendency to bleed, if you are being treated with blood-thinning medication at the same time, if you are known to have a seizure disorder (epilepsy), if an operation is planned in the next 3 to 4 days or if you are taking efavirenz.

There have been no adequate studies on the effects on the ability to drive and use machines.Your doctor will tell you whether your illness allows you to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

Since there is some evidence that preparations containing ginkgo could increase the risk of bleeding, this medicine must not be taken during pregnancy.This medicine should not be used during breastfeeding as there are no sufficient studies.

Notes

Ginkgo STADA® contains lactose and glucose.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
