What is apple pectin useful for?

Apple pectin serves as an optimal food source for the bacterial group Bacteroidetes.These bacteria help excrete sugar from the body.If there is a sufficient supply of apple pectin, the Bacteroidetes bacteria multiply and establish themselves sustainably in the body.

Intestinal bacteria and their function

Intestinal bacteria have a variety of tasks, including food utilization.They can be divided into two main groups: Bacteroidetes and Firmicutes.In a healthy intestinal flora, these groups are present in a ratio of around 1:1.

In overweight people, the ratio is often disturbed, and the Firmicutes bacteria can predominate.This can result in a ratio of up to 2000:1.Firmicutes can break down fiber and complex carbohydrates, creating additional carbohydrates in the intestines.This additional intake can be up to 200 calories daily.
