Pollival 0.5 mg/ml eye drops are a solution for the treatment and prevention of eye disorders associated with hay fever and allergies. The active ingredient, azelastine hydrochloride, belongs to the group of antihistamines and works by blocking the effects of histamine, which the body produces as part of an allergic reaction. Pollival eye drops can be used to treat seasonal allergic conjunctivitis in adults and children aged 4 years and over. They can also be used in adults and children aged 12 years and over to treat year-round allergic conjunctivitis caused by dust mites or animal dander. The recommended dose is one drop in each eye in the morning and evening. If necessary, the dose can be increased up to four times a day. The eye drops should only be dropped into the eyes and should not be used to treat eye infections. Application is done by dropping the drops into the conjunctival sac of each eye. After application, the eye should be closed slowly to allow even distribution of the liquid on the surface of the eye. The duration of use should not exceed six weeks. In case of accidental overdose or forgotten application, you should contact your doctor. No serious side effects are known, but irritation of the eye and taste disturbances may occur. Pollival eye drops should be kept out of the reach of children and should be used within 12 weeks after opening. Pregnant women should consult their doctor before use and use is not advised during breastfeeding. Interactions with other medicines may occur, so you should inform your doctor or pharmacist.
