The so-called “PECH” rule shows which first measures make sense in the event of a bruise:

1. Break: Immobilize the affected part of the body as quickly as possible.Lie or sit down and be careful not to put any strain on that area of your body.

2. Ice: Cooling is essential to reduce the pain and swelling that occurs.Cool packs or ice packs are particularly suitable for this. However, do not place this directly on the injured area, but instead, for example,B. a cloth in between.

3. Compression: If possible, wrap the affected area in a pressure bandage to prevent possible bleeding.

4. Elevate: It is best to elevate the injured body part above heart level to additionally counteract the blood flow.

These are first aid measures, ideally you should see a doctor, especially if the symptoms get worse.
