Pancreatin STADA® 20,000 is a medicine that contains enzymes from the porcine pancreas.It is used to treat digestive disorders caused by reduced or absent pancreatic function.These disorders can manifest themselves as abdominal pain, bloating, fatty stools, diarrhea, frequent bowel movements or weight loss.No prescription is required for this product.

Area of application

Pancreatin STADA® 20,000 is used for digestive disorders caused by a disorder of the exocrine pancreatic function.This disorder is accompanied by poor digestion.The preparation relieves the feeling of fullness and naturally supports digestion.

Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients

Pancreatin STADA® 20,000 contains the active ingredient pancreas powder from pigs (pancreatin).One capsule contains 195.2 mg of this active ingredient, which corresponds to the following: 20,000 Ph. Eur. units of lipase, at least 15,000 Ph. Eur. units of amylase and at least 900 Ph. Eur. units of protease per capsule.

The other ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, crospovidone, iron oxides and hydroxides (E 172), gelatin, magnesium stearate (Ph. Eur.), methacrylic acid-ethyl acrylate copolymer (1:1) dispersion 30% (Ph. Eur.), polysorbate 80, water, montan glycol wax, sodium dodecyl sulfate, highly dispersed silicon dioxide, Simeticon emulsion(contains simeticone, methyl cellulose, sorbic acid (Ph. Eur.) and water), talc, titanium dioxide (E 171) and triethyl citrate.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to pancreatin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Dosage

Recommended use of Pancreatin STADA® 20,000: Take the capsules directly with meals, without chewing and with plenty of liquid, for example a glass of water.If you cannot swallow the whole capsules, you can also open the capsules and take the capsule contents (microfilm tablets) whole with plenty of liquid.

The duration of application is not limited.As long as you have poor digestion, you should take Pancreatin STADA® 20,000.Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of this medicine is too strong or too weak.

Intake

Always take this medicine during or immediately after a meal or snack.This allows the enzymes to mix thoroughly with the food and digest it as it passes through the intestines.The capsules should be swallowed whole with sufficient liquid.Do not crush or chew the capsules as this may cause irritation in your mouth or change how they work in your body.

If you find it difficult to swallow the capsules, open them carefully and swallow the microfilm-coated tablets whole with enough liquid.Do not mix, crush or chew the microfilm tablets in non-acidic food or liquid as this may cause mouth irritation or change the way they work in your body.Make sure the medicine is swallowed completely and that no microfilm tablets remain in your mouth.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine.Patients with cystic fibrosis should inform their doctor if they take more than 10,000 lipase units per kilogram of body weight per day and have unusual abdominal discomfort or changes in abdominal symptoms.

If an allergic reaction occurs, stop your treatment and talk to your doctor.An allergic reaction could include itching, hives, or rash.In rare cases, a serious allergic reaction may occur with a feeling of warmth, dizziness and fainting, and difficulty breathing.These are symptoms of a serious, potentially life-threatening condition called "anaphylactic shock.

Mouth pain, irritation (stomatitis), bleeding and mouth ulceration may occur if the capsules are chewed and/or held in the mouth for too long.Rinsing your mouth and drinking a glass of water can help when the first signs of mouth irritation appear.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.Your doctor will decide whether you can take the medicine during pregnancy. The medicine can be used during breastfeeding.

Notes

Pancreatin STADA® 20,000 is used to treat exocrine pancreatic insufficiency.This is when the pancreas does not produce enough enzymes to digest food.Pancreatin STADA® can be used in children, adolescents and adults.Treatment with Pancreatin STADA® improves symptoms of exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, including stool consistency (e.g. greasy stools), abdominal pain, flatulence, and stool frequency (diarrhea or constipation).If you don't feel better or feel worse after 5 days, contact your doctor.

Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
