Pancreatin STADA® 20,000 is a medicine that contains digestive enzymes from the porcine pancreas.It is used to treat digestive disorders caused by reduced or absent pancreatic function.Such disorders can manifest themselves as abdominal pain, flatulence, fatty stools, diarrhea, frequent bowel movements or weight loss.No prescription is required for this product.

Pancreatin STADA® 20,000 contains the active ingredient pancreas powder from pigs (pancreatin).One capsule contains 195.2 mg of this active ingredient, which corresponds to the following: 20,000 Ph. Eur. units of lipase, at least 15,000 Ph. Eur. units of amylase and at least 900 Ph. Eur. units of protease per capsule.The other ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, crospovidone, iron oxides and hydroxides (E 172), gelatin, magnesium stearate (Ph. Eur.), methacrylic acid-ethyl acrylate copolymer (1:1) dispersion 30% (Ph. Eur.), polysorbate 80, water, montan glycol wax, sodium dodecyl sulfate, highly dispersed silicon dioxide, Simeticon emulsion(contains simeticone, methyl cellulose, sorbic acid (Ph. Eur.) and water), talc, titanium dioxide (E 171) and triethyl citrate.

Area of application

Pancreatin STADA® 20,000 is used for disorders of the exocrine pancreatic function that are accompanied by digestive weakness.It relieves the feeling of fullness and naturally supports digestion.

Dosage

The recommended dosage is 1 to 2 hard capsules with each meal, which corresponds to 20,000 to 40,000 Ph. Eur. units of lipase.The capsules should be taken directly with meals, without chewing and with plenty of liquid.If swallowing the whole capsules is difficult, the capsules can be opened and the contents (microfilm tablets) swallowed whole with plenty of liquid.The duration of use is not limited and should be carried out as long as the digestive weakness persists.

Intake

Always take Pancreatin STADA® 20,000 during or immediately after a meal or snack.The capsules should be swallowed whole with sufficient liquid.Crushing or chewing the capsules should be avoided as this may cause irritation in the mouth or alter how they work.If it is difficult to swallow the capsules, you can open the capsules and take the microfilm tablets they contain whole with sufficient liquid.Make sure the medicine is swallowed completely and that no microfilm tablets remain in your mouth.

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to one of the ingredients mentioned, Pancreatin STADA® 20,000 should not be used.

Notes

Pancreatin STADA® 20,000 enteric-coated hard capsules are used to treat exocrine pancreatic insufficiency.This is when the pancreas does not produce enough enzymes to digest food.The medicine can be used in children, adolescents and adults.Treatment improves symptoms of pancreatic exocrine insufficiency, including stool consistency, abdominal pain, flatulence, and stool frequency.If you don't feel better or feel worse after 5 days, contact your doctor.
