Instructions for use for Exacto Hiv self-test (1 piece)
Area of application
The Exacto HIV self-test is a reliable medical device for self-use that can detect an HIVinfection. With a reliability of 99.9% and the CE-mark, it offers safety in use.No prescription is required for this product.
The test is easy to carry out and provides a result in just 10 minutes.Only a drop of blood is required and the application is supported by detailed instructions for use with pictures.
How does the HIVtest work?
The Exacto HIV self-test is easy to use, but requires careful following of the instructions for use.Read the instructions carefully before taking the test.
Preparation
The test is used to detect an HIVinfection that occurred more than three months ago.Wash your hands thoroughly and disinfect your fingers with the disinfectant wipe provided.Remove any remaining residue with the sterile pad.Carefully prick yourself with the lancet and collect a drop of blood with the pipette.
Test implementation
Place the test cassette in front of you and place the drop of blood in the red “BLOOD” field. The field should be completely red. Then drop the liquid from the small bottle into the “DILUENT” field.Start the time measurement and read the result after 10 minutes. In every pack of the Exacto HIV self-test you will find everything you need for the test.
Reliability
The Exacto HIV self-test has a double visual inspection.First, the highlighted “BLOOD” field must be completely red to ensure that the correct amount of blood has been collected.Additionally, the C-tape (DILUENT) must appear in the cassette reader window to confirm complete completion of sample migration.
Read the result
HIV-negative: If only the C band stripe appears, you are HIV-negative.However, note that HIVinfection cannot be ruled out until 12 weeks after the last risk.If you test before this deadline, you should repeat the test after 12 weeks.
HIV-positive: If both stripes (C-band and T-band) appear, you are probably HIV-positive.However, this result is not yet final. All positive rapid test results must be confirmed by a special laboratory test. You can have this confirmation test carried out at an AIDS service, a health department or a HIVspecialist practice. You can also start HIVtherapy there if the positive result is confirmed.
If no stripe appears at all, the test is invalid.
When to do it?
Many people develop antibodies starting around 4 weeks after an HIVinfection, which can be detected with the Exacto HIV self-test.However, for some this may take up to 12 weeks. You can do the test as early as 4 weeks to determine if there is an infection. However, it is only possible to reliably rule out an infection after 12 weeks.
