Area of application

The medicine contains acetylsalicylic acid, which acts as a platelet aggregation inhibitor in small doses.Platelets are small blood components that promote blood clot formation and can cause thrombosis.Blood clots in arteries can interrupt blood flow and reduce oxygen supply, which can lead to heart attack, angina or stroke.

The medicine is used to reduce the risk of blood clots and to prevent heart attack, stroke and cardiovascular disorders in patients with angina pectoris.It may also be used after certain heart surgery procedures to prevent blood clots.This medicine is not suitable for emergency situations and is for prevention purposes only.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid, other salicylates or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or if you have reacted to these substances with asthma attacks or angioedema.

It must not be taken in a dosage of more than 100 mg per day if you have current or previous stomach or small intestinal ulcers, blood clotting disorders, severe liver or kidney dysfunction, severe heart disease, or in the last three months of pregnancy.

Simultaneous use with methotrexate in a dosage of more than 15 mg per week is also contraindicated.

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as described or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.The recommended dose for adults is 100 mg once daily for the prevention of heart attack, stroke and cardiovascular disorders.To prevent stroke, the dose may be increased to 100 to 300 mg once daily.

Elderly patients should use the medicine with caution and treatment should be reviewed regularly.Children and adolescents under 16 years of age must not take the medicine without a doctor's prescription.

If you have taken an overdose, seek medical attention immediately.Symptoms of an overdose may include ringing in the ears, hearing problems, headache, dizziness, confusion, nausea, vomiting and stomach pain.

If you forget to take a dose, wait until your next dose and do not take a double dose.Do not stop taking it without consulting your doctor.

Intake

The tablets are intended to be taken orally and should be taken whole, at least 30 minutes before a meal, with sufficient liquid.Because of the enteric coating, the tablets should not be crushed, broken or chewed.

Patient information

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if you have kidney, liver or heart problems, stomach or small intestine problems, uncontrolled high blood pressure, asthma, hay fever, nasal polyps, chronic respiratory diseases, gout, heavy menstrual bleeding or a deficiency of the enzyme glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase.

Tell your doctor if you are having surgery, as acetylsalicylic acid can affect blood clotting.Make sure you drink enough fluids as the medicine can affect kidney function.

The medicine is not suitable for treating pain or as an antipyretic agent.Children and adolescents under 16 years of age must not take the medicine without a doctor's prescription as it can trigger Reye's syndrome.

The medicine should not affect your ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

In the last trimester of pregnancy, you should not take more than 100 mg of acetylsalicylic acid per day as this could harm your unborn baby or cause problems during birth.

During the first six months of pregnancy, the medicine should only be taken if absolutely necessary and recommended by your doctor.Breastfeeding mothers should not take acetylsalicylic acid without medical advice.

Acetylsalicylic acid may affect female fertility by affecting ovulation. This influence is reversed after treatment is discontinued.

Application

Your treating doctor will tell you the individual dosage.This depends on the preventive measure.

Please always take ASS Aristo 100 mg gastro-resistant tablets whole with sufficient liquid (1/2 glass of water).

Long-term therapy should be carried out with the lowest possible dose.

This medicine is not suitable for emergency situations.It can only be taken for prevention.
