Area of application

This herbal medicine contains a dry extract of Ginkgo biloba leaves.It is used to improve age-related cognitive impairment and quality of life in mild dementia.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The main active ingredient is a dry extract of ginkgo leaves in an amount of 40 mg.The extract is made with 60% acetone and contains various active ingredients such as ginkgo flavonoid glycosides, ginkgolides A+B+C, bilobalides and ginkgolic acids.In addition, the preparation contains the following excipients: microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium salt, iron (III) hydroxide oxide x-water, spray-dried glucose syrup, lactose-1-water, macrogol 3350, magnesium stearate, poly(vinyl alcohol), highly disperse silicon dioxide, talc and titanium dioxide.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to Ginkgo biloba extract or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.The product should also not be used during pregnancy.

Dosage

Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.The recommended dose for adults and elderly patients is 1 film-coated tablet twice daily, in the morning and evening.There is no relevant indication for children and adolescents.There are no specific data on dosage for impaired kidney or liver function.Treatment should last at least 8 weeks.If there is no improvement in symptoms after 3 months or if the symptoms of the disease worsen, the doctor should reconsider continuing treatment.

If you have taken more than you should, there are no known cases of overdose.However, you may experience increased symptoms as described in the “Side effects” category.In this case, contact your doctor or seek medical advice.If you forget to take a dose, do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

Intake

The film-coated tablets are taken orally and should be swallowed whole with liquid, preferably a glass of drinking water.It can be taken regardless of meals.Do not take the tablets lying down.

Patient information

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if you have an abnormal tendency to bleed, are taking blood-thinning medication, suffer from epilepsy, are planning to have an operation in the next 3 to 4 days or are taking efavirenz.If symptoms worsen during treatment, tell your doctor or pharmacist.There is no relevant indication for children and adolescents.

There have been no adequate studies on the effects on the ability to drive and use machines.Your doctor will tell you whether your illness allows you to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.Since there is evidence that preparations containing ginkgo could increase the risk of bleeding, this medicine must not be taken during pregnancy.The medicine should not be used during breastfeeding as there are no sufficient studies and it is not known whether the ingredients of the extract pass into breast milk.
