Flurbiprofen is one of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAR).As a spray, the active ingredient develops its effect specifically where it is needed: in the throat and pharynx.Its rapid onset of action and good tolerability make it a frequently used medicine for the symptomatic treatment of pain, swelling and inflammation in the neck and throat.Even if a sore throat is one of the classic side effects of a flu infection, other causes can also be considered.If there is no relief after a treatment period of a maximum of three days, a medical visit is necessary.

Area of application

The spray is used for the short-term relief of symptoms of sore throats such as inflammation of the throat mucosa, pain, swelling and difficulty swallowing in adults aged 18 and over.Flurbiprofen belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAR).These medicines work by affecting the body's response to pain, swelling, and increased temperature.

Active ingredient: 8.75 mg flurbiprofen.Other ingredients: Betadex, hydroxypropyl betadex, disodium hydrogen phosphate-12 water, citric acid, sodium hydroxide for pH adjustment, saccharin sodium 2 water, cherry flavor (contains naturally-identical flavorings, flavor correctors, ethanol, triacetin, propylene glycol, ascorbic acid, DL-a-tocopherol, purified water), purifiedwater.

Contraindications

The spray must not be used if you are allergic to flurbiprofen, other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAR), acetylsalicylic acid or any of the other ingredients.The spray must also not be used if you have had previous allergic reactions to NSAR or acetylsalicylic acid, such as asthma, shortness of breath, itching, runny nose, skin rashes or swelling.Furthermore, the spray is not suitable for ulcers or bleeding in the stomach/intestinal area, severe colon inflammation, blood clotting disorders or bleeding after taking NSAR, in the last three months of pregnancy, for severe heart, kidney or liver weakness and for children and adolescents under 18 years of age.

Dosage

The recommended dose for adults aged 18 years and over is one dose of 3 sprays into the back of the throat every 3 to 6 hours as needed.A maximum of 5 doses should be used in a 24 hour period.The spray is intended for short-term use only.To relieve symptoms, the lowest effective dose should be used for the shortest duration necessary.If you have an infection, contact a doctor or pharmacist immediately if symptoms persist or worsen.If oral irritation occurs, flurbiprofen treatment should be discontinued.Do not use the spray for more than 3 days unless your doctor tells you to.No prescription is required for this product.

Intake

The spray is intended for use in the oral cavity only.Spray only into the back of the throat and do not inhale while spraying.Do not use more than 5 doses (15 sprays) in 24 hours.

Patient information

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the spray if you are already taking another non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAR) or acetylsalicylic acid, have sore tonsils or suspect a bacterial sore throat, have an infection, are elderly, have asthma or allergies, have skin diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus or mixed connective tissue disease, have high blood pressure, have a history of bowel disease, have heart, kidney or liver problemshave had a stroke or are in the first 6 months of pregnancy or are breastfeeding.At the first signs of skin reactions or other signs of an allergic reaction, stop using the spray and seek medical attention immediately.Tell your doctor if you have any unusual abdominal symptoms, especially bleeding.Talk to a doctor if you don't feel better, get worse, or develop new symptoms.The use of medicines containing flurbiprofen may be associated with a small increased risk of heart attack or stroke.Do not exceed the recommended dose or treatment duration.This medicine must not be used in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.Do not use this medicine if you are in the last 3 months of your pregnancy.If you are in the first 6 months of your pregnancy or are breastfeeding, avoid using this medicine unless your doctor tells you otherwise.This medicine belongs to a group (NSAIDs) that can affect women's fertility.The effect is reversible after discontinuation of the drug.

Notes

Do not use for longer than 3 days.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
