Summary: Medunasal-Heparin 500 I.U. ampoules are intended for flushing peripheral catheters, venous access lines and out-of-body tubular devices for intravenous administration, infusion therapy and repeated blood sampling. Heparin, an anticoagulant polysaccharide, prevents the formation of blood clots and fibrin and keeps the catheter clean and permeable. However, the solution should not be administered directly to the patient and should only be used by healthcare professionals. The product must be kept out of the reach of children. It should not be used in patients who are hypersensitive to heparin or at high risk of bleeding. Additional caution should be exercised when certain medications are administered concurrently.
