Octenisept is a widely used antiseptic for the treatment of wounds and supportive wound care. It is effective against infections and protects against acute and chronic wounds as well as burns on skin and mucous membranes. Octenisept can also be used before diagnostic and surgical procedures on skin and mucous membrane surfaces. The solution is painless and colourless, which makes it particularly suitable for infants and premature babies. Octenisept has a broad spectrum of action and is fast-acting and long-lasting. It contains octenidine and phenoxyethanol as active ingredients. The preparation is applied to the area to be disinfected and should act for at least one minute. Octenisept must not be swallowed or enter the bloodstream. It can be used during pregnancy and is well tolerated by the skin and mucous membranes. The package leaflet should be read before use. Octenisept should not be used together with PVP-iodine.
