Application and dosage

Nicotinell 7 mg/24-hour patch is applied to the skin once a day, preferably in the morning after getting up.The patch should be applied to a clean, dry, hairless area of skin, such as the upper arm, shoulder or hip.It should remain on the skin for 24 hours and the location should be changed daily.

The dosage depends on your previous smoking habits.For heavy smokers (more than 20 cigarettes per day), treatment begins with a high-dose patch (21 mg) for 3-4 weeks, followed by a medium-dose patch (14 mg) for another 3-4 weeks and ends with a light-dose patch (7 mg) for another 3-4 weeks.For moderate to light smokers (less than 20 cigarettes per day), treatment begins with a medium dose patch (14 mg) for 3-4 weeks, followed by a light dose patch (7 mg) for another 3-4 weeks.

In some cases, combination therapy with Nicotinell chewing gum or lozenges may make sense.The maximum daily dose of 64 mg (plaster + chewing gum or lozenges) must not be exceeded.

Side effects
