Area of application

Adiclair® Nystatin oral gel is a yeast-specific antifungal that is used for nystatin-sensitive yeast infections of the oral cavity, also known as oral thrush.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients

The active ingredient in Adiclair® Nystatin oral gel is nystatin with a concentration of 100,000 IU per gram. The other ingredients include methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, glycerol, sucrose, hyetellose, raspberry flavor and purified water.Each gram of oral gel contains less than 0.05 bread units (BE), which makes it safe for diabetics to take.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be taken if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to nystatin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.If you are hypersensitive to nystatin or any of the other ingredients, discontinue use, for example if you experience burning or itching.There is no experience with its use in patients who are being treated with cytostatics.

Dosage

Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose of Adiclair® Nystatin oral gel is 1 gram (1 measuring spoon) of oral gel 3-6 times a day, in severe cases every 2 hours.During the treatment of oral thrush, a significant improvement occurs within just a few days.However, treatment should be continued for at least 2 days after the symptoms have subsided.However, the duration of treatment should not exceed 28 days.If you use more than you should, no symptoms are expected.If gastrointestinal disorders such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea occur, please stop taking the product and contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Intake

The oral gel is taken and left in the mouth for a few minutes and then swallowed.For the treatment of yeast infections of the mouth, it has proven to be useful to additionally coat the affected areas with a cotton swab to which oral gel has been previously applied.Due to its adhesive properties, the oral gel is suitable for treatment in the oral cavity.For infants, it makes sense to put 1/2 - 1 measuring spoon (1/2 - 1 gram of oral gel) into the oral cavity before and after a meal.This allows the effect of nystatin in the oral cavity to be optimized.Even in infants, you should aim for the gel to stay in the mouth for as long as possible.

Patient information

Take special care when taking it if the following applies: No special precautions are required.Children: Due to the high osmolarity of nystatin (2282 mOsm/L), its use in very underweight and immature premature infants is not recommended.Driving and using machines: No special precautions are required.

Pregnancy

Due to its molecular size, nystatin is not absorbed when given orally in normal doses, does not cross the placental barrier and is not expected to be present in breast milk.

Other

If the treatment is not successful, the doctor should carry out an examination to confirm a fungal infection or to check the treatment.When treating fungal infections, all fungal lesions on the skin and mucous membranes must be treated in order to avoid relapses caused by untreated fungal lesions.

Storage

Keep medicines out of the reach of children.You may no longer use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the outer carton and container.Do not store above 25°C.After opening the tube, Adiclair® Nystatin oral gel has a shelf life of 28 days.
