Instructions for use of Ferro Sanol coated tablets
Ferro Sanol coated tablets are an oral iron preparation for the treatment of iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia in adults and children aged 6 years and over with a minimum weight of 20 kg.The active ingredient is iron (II) glycine sulfate complex, which contains 225 mg per tablet, which corresponds to 40 mg of iron (II) ion.
No prescription is required for this product.
Areas of application
Ferro Sanol coated tablets are used to treat iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia. This can be particularly the case during pregnancy and breastfeeding, in childhood, with low-iron diets or with acute and chronic blood loss.
Dosage and application
The dosage should always be taken after consultation with a doctor or pharmacist. In general, at the start of treatment it is recommended to take 1 to 2 tablets 3 times a day, then 1 tablet 1 to 2 times a day.Children aged 6 years and over with a body weight of at least 20 kg should take 1 tablet once or twice a day.The tablets should be swallowed whole with sufficient water, either in the morning on an empty stomach or approximately 2 hours before or after a meal.
The duration of use is determined by the doctor and can last between 3 and 6 months, depending on the severity of the anemia and individual circumstances.
Contraindications
Ferro Sanol-coated tablets must not be taken if you are allergic to iron or any of the other ingredients of the medicine, have a narrowing of the esophagus, suffer from a hereditary iron storage disease (hemochromatosis), suffer from iron overload or iron utilization disorders, receive repeated or chronic blood transfusions or if there are children under 6 years of age with a body weight of less than 20 kg.
Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Common side effects include gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation and heartburn.Reversible tooth discoloration can rarely occur.A dark discoloration of the stool is harmless and is due to the iron content.
