Instructions for use of Weleda healing ointment
No prescription is required for this product.Please read the entire package leaflet carefully before you start using it.This medicine is also available without a doctor's prescription.However, in order to achieve the best possible treatment success, the Weleda healing ointment must be used correctly.
What is Weleda healing ointment and what is it used for?
Weleda healing ointment is an anthroposophical medicine.According to the anthroposophical knowledge of humanity and nature, it is used for superficial wounds, purulent-inflammatory skin diseases such as boils and abscesses, as well as for the treatment and prevention of cracked nipples in breastfeeding mothers.
What do you need to consider before using Weleda healing ointment?
Weleda healing ointment must not be used if you are hypersensitive to Peru balsam, sesame oil or one of the other ingredients as well as to cinnamon or daisy family.Contact of the ointment with eyes and mucous membranes should be avoided.If symptoms persist or are unclear, a doctor should be consulted.
Like all medicines, Weleda healing ointment should only be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding after consulting a doctor.If used during breastfeeding, apply the ointment to the nipples only after breastfeeding and remove any remaining ointment before the next time you latch on the child.
Wool wax and wool wax alcohols can trigger localized skin reactions.Butylhydroxytoluene can cause localized skin irritation, irritation of the eyes and mucous membranes.Weleda healing ointment contains substances that can often cause allergies when used over a long period of time in patients with poorly healing wounds or ulcers.
How to use Weleda healing ointment?
Weleda healing ointment is applied to the skin in the affected areas.Unless otherwise prescribed, the usual dose is 1 to 3 times daily.Treatment of the disease should be completed after 2 weeks.If there is no improvement within this period, a doctor should be consulted.Do not use a double dose if you forget to use it previously.
What side effects are possible?
Like all medicines, Weleda healing ointment can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.If you are hypersensitive to components of the ointment, especially wool wax alcohols, allergic reactions may occur.Balsam of Peru can cause skin irritation.Sesame oil can rarely cause serious allergic reactions.If skin redness occurs, possibly associated with itching, you should stop using it and, if necessary, consult your doctor.
What else is important?
You must not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the tube and carton.Do not store the ointment above 30°C.The Weleda healing ointment is available in pack sizes of 25 g and 70 g.
The composition of 10 g of Weleda healing ointment includes the following active ingredients: Calendula officinalis 2a Ø 0.54 g, Mercurialis perennis 2b Ø 0.8 g, Balsamum peruvianum 0.036 g, Resina Laricis 0.018 g, Stibium metallicum praeparatum 0.005 g.The ointment base consists of refined sesame oil, lanolin, yellow wax, lanolin alcohols and purified water.
