Instructions for use of Sic-Ophtal N eye drops
Sic-Ophtal N is a film former and tear substitute. It is used for the symptomatic treatment of drying out of the cornea and conjunctiva. These can occur due to tear secretion and functional disorders as a result of local or systemic diseases as well as insufficient or incomplete eyelid closure.
No prescription is required for this product. Please read this entire leaflet carefully as it contains important information. In order to achieve the best possible treatment success, Sic-Ophtal N should be used as directed.
Keep this leaflet in case you want to read it again later.Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you need further information or advice. If your symptoms worsen or do not improve, please seek medical attention.Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet.
Active ingredients and ingredients
1 ml eye drops contains 3.20 mg hypromellose. The other ingredients are cetrimide, sodium monohydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, sodium edetate, sorbitol and water for injections.
Application and dosage
Always use Sic-Ophtal N exactly according to the instructions in the package insert.Unless otherwise prescribed, you should instill 1 drop into the conjunctival sac 3 to 5 times a day or more frequently as needed.Dry eye therapy requires individual dosage.
Tilt your head back and use the index finger of one hand to pull the lower eyelid down. With your other hand, hold the dropper bottle over the eye without touching it and place a drop into the pulled-down conjunctival sac.Slowly close your eye and move it back and forth to distribute the liquid well.
Special Notes
If you are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients, Sic-Ophtal N must not be used. The preservative cetrimide contained in it can cause irritation to the eyes if used frequently and for a long time.In this case, you should use a preparation without preservatives.
Wearers of soft contact lenses should remove them from their eyes before use and only put them back in about 15 minutes after application.Hard contact lenses may remain in the eye during use.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are using other medicines. If you also use other eye drops or eye ointments, there should be an interval of approx. 10-15 minutes between applications, whereby Sic-Ophtal N should always be used last.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
No special studies have been carried out on pregnant patients with Sic-Ophtal N.Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding should only be carried out after careful risk-benefit assessment by the doctor. There are no concerns about its use as hypromellose is not absorbed and is therefore not systemically available.
Ability to drive and use machines
After instillation, visual acuity may worsen for a few minutes.Because of the reduction in visual acuity, we recommend that you do not work without a secure grip for a few minutes after instillation and that you do not drive.
Side effects
Possible side effects include hypersensitivity and intolerance reactions such as burning, pain, increased tearing, foreign body sensation, conjunctival redness, eyelid swelling and itching.Rash and itching may also occur.
