Areas of application

Octenisept vaginal therapeutic is an antiseptic used to treat vaginal infections.It relieves symptoms such as itching, burning and discharge caused by bacterial or fungal infections (candidiasis).No prescription is required for this product.

Mode of action

Octenisept vaginal therapeutic has a germ-reducing effect and fights bacteria, fungi and certain viruses on the skin and mucous membranes.The active ingredients octenidine dihydrochloride and phenoxyethanol complement each other in their antiseptic effects and cause lasting damage to the structures of the microorganisms.

Octenisept vaginal therapeutic contains the following active ingredients: octenidine dihydrochloride (0.1 g) and phenoxyethanol (2.0 g).It also contains the excipients cocamidopropyl betaine, sodium salt D-gluconic acid, glycerol 85%, sodium chloride, sodium hydroxide for pH adjustment and purified water.

Contraindications

If you are hypersensitive to the active ingredients or any of the other ingredients, Octenisept vaginal therapy must not be used.It is not suitable for children under 8 years old.

Dosage

On the first day of treatment, the preparation is used morning and evening, then only once a day in the evening.The vaginal applicator is inserted deep into the vagina and the spray cap is pressed down ten times in a row.The duration of treatment is usually seven days.

Application

Before the first use, the protective and spray cap should be removed from the bottle and the applicator attached.It is recommended to insert the applicator deep into the vagina while sitting on the toilet or lying in bed.After each use, the applicator should be cleaned under running water and dried with a clean cloth.

Patient information

The medicine should not be swallowed in large quantities or enter the bloodstream.In case of accidental contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water.To prevent re-infection, the partner can be included in the treatment.

Pregnancy

Pregnancy: Current experience with pregnant women does not indicate any risk.Breast-feeding: There are insufficient data on use during breast-feeding.Since octenidine dihydrochloride is not absorbed or only absorbed in very small amounts, it can be assumed that it does not pass into breast milk.Phenoxyethanol is quickly and practically completely absorbed and almost quantitatively excreted via the kidneys.Accumulation in breast milk is therefore unlikely.
