Instructions for use for sodium chloride 0.9% Braun Ecobag infusion solution

Isotonic sodium chloride solution 0.9% Braun infusion solution is a saline solution that is used intravenously.The solution contains sodium chloride in a concentration equal to the salt concentration in the blood.No prescription is required for this product.

Areas of application

This infusion solution is used to replace fluids and salt in cases of fluid deficiency or simultaneous sodium and fluid deficiency.It can also be used when the pH value is increased and the chloride level is simultaneously reduced, as well as when there is a loss of chloride.It is also used for short-term replenishment of the vascular system, as a carrier solution for electrolyte concentrates and compatible medications, as well as for wound treatment and for moistening cloths and bandages.

Active ingredient and composition

The active ingredient is sodium chloride.1000 ml infusion solution contains 9.0 g sodium chloride.The other ingredient is water for injections.The electrolytes in the solution are sodium ion 154 mmol/l and chloride ion 154 mmol/l.

Application and dosage

The solution is administered intravenously or used for rinsing and moistening.The amount of solution depends on your individual fluid and electrolyte needs.The maximum dose is 40 ml per kg body weight per day, which corresponds to 6 mmol sodium per kg body weight per day.The solution is usually administered at up to 5 ml per kg of body weight per hour.In exceptional cases the infusion rate can be increased.

Side effects and precautions

Like all medicines, Isotone saline solution 0.9% Braun can have side effects, although not everyone gets them.Possible side effects include increased sodium and chloride levels in the blood.When using the solution, certain precautionary measures should be observed, especially if you have certain pre-existing conditions or are using other medicines at the same time.

Storage

The medicine should be kept out of the reach of children.No special storage conditions are required.The solution must not be used after the expiry date stated on the container.After first opening, the preparation should be used immediately and stored at 2 to 8 °C for no longer than 24 hours.Unused infusion solution should be discarded after one use.
