Description

Isotonic saline solution Fresenius Freeflex is an infusion solution that serves as a plasma isotonic fluid replacement.It is used in hypotonic and isotonic dehydration to compensate for fluid loss in the body.It can also be used as a short-term intravascular volume replacement, as a carrier solution for electrolyte concentrates and compatible medications, and for moistening dressings.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The solution contains 2.25 g sodium chloride, 38.5 mmol sodium ions and 38.5 mmol chloride ions.The excipients included are sodium hydroxide, concentrated hydrochloric acid and water for injection purposes.

Areas of application

Isotonic saline solution Fresenius Freeflex is used as a potassium-free 0.9% sodium chloride solution for infusion.It serves as a plasma isotonic fluid replacement for hypotonic and isotonic dehydration.Hypotonic dehydration occurs when the body loses more water than salt, while isotonic dehydration involves loss of water and salt in equal proportions.The solution can also be used as a short-term intravascular volume replacement, as a carrier solution for electrolyte concentrates and compatible medications, and to moisten dressings.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if you are hypersensitive to sodium chloride or any of the other ingredients of the medicine or if you suffer from overhydration (hyperhydration states).

Dosage

The dosage depends on fluid and electrolyte needs.The recommended dose is 40 ml per kilogram of body weight per day or approximately 6 mmol sodium per kilogram of body weight per day.The maximum daily dose for adults is 3 - 6 mmol of sodium per kilogram of body weight per day.In children, the maximum daily dose is 3 - 5 mmol of sodium per kilogram of body weight per day.The maximum infusion rate depends on the clinical situation.

Intake

The solution is administered intravenously.It can also be used to make parenterals (injection or infusion preparations).Dosage, duration of use and routes of administration depend on the relevant information for the diluted/dissolved medication.

Patient information

Particular caution is required in the case of reduced potassium levels in the blood, increased sodium levels in the blood, increased chloride levels in the blood and in diseases that require restricted sodium intake.Depending on the volume administered and the patient's condition, electrolyte and fluid status checks may be necessary.The medicine is suitable for adults and children.It has no influence on the ability to drive or use machines.
