What are Stada travel tablets and what are they used for?

Stada travel tablets are a medicine for the prevention and treatment of motion sickness, dizziness, nausea and vomiting.The active ingredient dimenhydrinate belongs to the group of H1 antihistamines and helps to relieve these symptoms.It is not suitable for use in nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy.No prescription is required for this product.

How are Stada travel tablets used?

Always take Stada travel tablets exactly according to the instructions in the package leaflet.Unless otherwise directed by your doctor, the usual dose to prevent motion sickness is one tablet three times a day, with the first tablet taken 30 minutes before travel.To treat motion sickness, dizziness, nausea and vomiting, one to two tablets can be taken every four hours, but no more than six tablets per day.Children aged 6 to 12 years take half to one tablet every six to eight hours, but no more than three tablets daily.The tablets should be taken whole and with sufficient liquid.Stada travel tablets are only intended for short-term use.If symptoms persist, a doctor should be consulted.

How should Stada travel tablets be stored?

Keep Stada travel tablets out of the reach of children.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton and blister pack.Do not throw away medicines via wastewater or household waste.To protect the environment, ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines when you no longer need them.

What Stada travel tablets contain

The active ingredient is dimenhydrinate.One tablet contains 50 mg dimenhydrinate.The other ingredients are calcium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate, carboxymethyl starch sodium (type A) (Ph.Eur.), cellulose powder, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate (Ph.Eur.) and highly dispersed silicon dioxide.Contains lactose.

Mode of action

The active ingredient dimenhydrinate blocks receptors for the messenger histamine.In this way, it suppresses vasodilatation triggered by histamine and increased blood flow to the smallest hair vessels.It also combats nausea and has a calming effect.

Contraindications

Stada travel tablets must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to the ingredients, circulatory disorders of the cerebral vessels, epilepsy, seizures during pregnancy, pheochromocytoma, porphyria, prostate enlargement with residual urine formation, alcohol abuse and angle-closure glaucoma.Caution is advised in cases of bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive respiratory disease, narrowing of the digestive tract, heart disease, low pulse rate, impaired liver function, potassium deficiency and magnesium deficiency.Children under 6 years of age should not use the medicine.During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the medicine should only be taken after consulting a doctor.

Side effects

Possible side effects include gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea and constipation, dry mouth, dizziness, drowsiness, drowsiness, muscle weakness, movement disorders, mood swings, depression, confusion, agitation, restlessness, seizures, visual disturbances, rapid pulse, increase in intraocular pressure, urination disorders, feeling of stuffy nose and skin hypersensitivity reactions.Restlessness, agitation, insomnia, anxiety and tremors can occur, especially in children.

Important notes

Reactivity may be impaired, especially in higher doses or in combination with alcohol.Avoid excessive UV-radiation as skin may become more sensitive.With long-term use, the body can get used to the medicine and tolerance can develop.Caution is advised if you have lactose intolerance.Interactions with other medicines are possible, so you should inform your doctor or pharmacist about all medicines you are taking.
