Vomex A® dragees
Vomex A® dragees are an anti-nausea and vomiting agent and belong to the group of H1 antihistamines.They are used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting of various causes, especially motion sickness such as seasickness.No prescription is required for this product.
The active ingredient dimenhydrinate works directly in the vomiting center of the brain by blocking the histamine receptors.This means that signals that trigger nausea and vomiting are not transmitted.The effects begin within 30 minutes and last up to six hours.
Active ingredients and ingredients
Each dragee contains 50 mg dimenhydrinate as the active ingredient.The other ingredients include microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, calcium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate, carboxymethyl starch sodium (type A), colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, arabic gum, hyprolose, talc, sucrose, macrogol 6000, calcium carbonate, titanium dioxide, iron (III) hydroxide oxide x H2O, iron (III) oxide,Carminic acid aluminum salts, carnauba wax and beeswax.
Area of application
Vomex A® dragees are used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting of various origins, especially motion sickness.They are suitable for children aged 6 and over and over 30 kg body weight, teenagers and adults.The product is not suitable for the sole treatment of nausea and vomiting associated with drug treatment for cancer.
Contraindications
This medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to dimenhydrinate, other antihistamines or any of the other ingredients.The product must also not be used in cases of acute asthma attack, glaucoma (angle-closure glaucoma), adrenal gland tumor (pheochromocytoma), disorder of blood pigment production (porphyria), enlargement of the prostate gland (prostatic hyperplasia) with residual urine formation, seizures (epilepsy, eclampsia) or in children under 14 years of age.
Dosage
The dosage of Vomex A® dragees depends on the patient's body weight.Adults and adolescents over 14 years of age can take 1 to 2 tablets 1 to 4 times a day, but no more than 8 tablets per day.Children aged 6 to 14 years should take 1 tablet 1 to 3 times a day, but no more than 3 tablets per day.
The dragees should be taken whole and with plenty of liquid.To prevent motion sickness, the first dose should be taken about ½ to 1 hour before the start of the journey.To treat nausea and vomiting, doses should be taken at regular intervals throughout the day.
Vomex A® dragees are only intended for short-term use.If symptoms persist, a doctor should be consulted.After 2 weeks of treatment at the latest, a doctor should check whether further treatment is necessary.
Patient information
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the tablets if you suffer from impaired liver function, cardiac arrhythmias, potassium or magnesium deficiency, slow heartbeat, certain heart diseases, chronic breathing problems, asthma or narrowing at the outlet of the stomach.
Children and adolescents should not use the medicine under the age of 6.Special lower-dose dosage forms are available for this age group.
Drowsiness, memory problems and reduced ability to concentrate can have an adverse effect on the ability to drive or work with machines.This is particularly true after insufficient sleep, when starting treatment and changing medications, and in combination with alcohol.
Pregnancy
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
Dimenhydrinate can cause premature labor.The safety of use during pregnancy has not been proven.You may only take the preparation after consulting your doctor and only if he or she considers it to be absolutely necessary.
Dimenhydrinate passes into breast milk.The safety of use during breastfeeding has not been proven.Since undesirable effects, such as increased restlessness, on the breastfed child cannot be ruled out, you should either not take the tablets while breastfeeding or stop breastfeeding while you are taking them.
Notes
Alcohol consumption should be avoided if possible while using this product.The medicine contains lactose and sucrose (sugar).Store drug out of reach of children.
Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
