What is Ringer's Solution DAB 7 and what is it used for?

Ringer's solution DAB 7 is an electrolyte solution that is used for fluid and electrolyte replacement.It contains 0.147 mmol sodium (Na+), 4 pmol potassium (K+), 2.25 pmol calcium (Ca++) and 0.156 mmol chloride (Cl-) per milliliter.The solution is used for hypochloremic alkalosis or chloride losses, as a short-term intravascular volume replacement for isotonic or hypotonic dehydration, and as a carrier solution for compatible electrolyte concentrates and medications.

What should you consider before using Ringer's solution DAB 7?

An absolute contraindication is a state of overhydration (hyperhydration).Relative contraindications are increased blood potassium content (hyperkalemia), increased blood sodium content (hypernatremia), and increased blood chloride content (hyperchloremia).Caution is advised in conditions requiring restrictive sodium intake such as heart failure, generalized edema, pulmonary edema, hypertension, eclampsia and severe renal insufficiency.It should be used with caution in patients with renal insufficiency who have a tendency to have elevated potassium levels in the blood.

Electrolyte and fluid status checks are required.When treating hypertonic dehydration, avoid rapid infusion to prevent increases in plasma osmolarity and plasma sodium concentration.Interactions with other agents are not known.

There are no concerns about use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

How to use Ringer's solution DAB 7?

The dosage depends on the need for fluids and electrolytes.The maximum infusion rate and maximum daily dose depend on the patient's clinical condition and fluid and electrolyte requirements.A fluid intake of 40 ml/kg body weight per day should not be exceeded in adults.The solution is infused intravenously.

Overdose can lead to overhydration, electrolyte disturbances, hyperosmolarity and acidotic metabolism.Therapy includes interruption of the supply of the solution, accelerated elimination via the kidneys and a reduced supply of the corresponding electrolytes.

What side effects are possible?

When used as directed, no side effects are to be expected.

How to store Ringer's solution DAB 7?

The expiry date on the container and outer packaging should be observed.Medicines should be kept out of the reach of children.After opening the container, the solution must be used immediately.Only clear solutions in intact containers should be used.

1000 ml of infusion solution contains 8.60 g sodium chloride, 0.30 g potassium chloride and 0.33 g calcium chloride 2 H2O.Other ingredients include water for injections.The electrolyte concentrations are Na+ 147 mmol/l, K+ 4 mmol/l, Ca++ 2.25 mmol/l and Cl- 156 mmol/l.The theoretical osmolarity is 309 mOsm/l and the pH between 5.0 and 7.5.The dosage form is an infusion solution, available in plastic bottles with 250 ml, 500 ml and 1000 ml contents.
