Instructions for use of Chelidonium capsules

Chelidonium capsules are an anthroposophical medicine that is used for diseases of the digestive organs.The areas of application include the stimulation of the heat and sensation organization in the metabolic system in cases of digestive disorders, bile dysfunction, constipation (constipation) and flatulence (meteorism).

No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Each soft capsule contains the following active ingredients: Anisi stellati aetheroleum (18.3 mg), Berberis vulgaris e radice W 10% (54.9 mg), Carvi aetheroleum (9.15 mg), Chelidonium majus e radice ferm 34b (0.0305 mg), Chelidonium majus ex herba ferm 34b (0.061 mg), Cichorium intybuse planta tota ferm 33c (0.0915 mg), Citrullus colocynthis e fructibus ferm 33a (0.0915 mg), Iecoris aselli oleum (45.75 mg), Lini oleum virginale (457.5 mg), Menthae piperitae aetheroleum (9.15 mg), Ricini oleum virginale (45.75 mg) andTritici aestivi oleum raffinatum (183.0 mg).

Other ingredients include gelatin, glycerol 85%, cocoa butter, virgin olive oil and purified water.

Contraindications

The medicine should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.It is also not suitable for those with known hypersensitivity to star anise, aniseed, anethole, caraway oil, peppermint oil, chicory and other composite plants, as well as with cross-allergy to umbelliferous plants.

Dosage and method of administration

Unless otherwise prescribed, 1 soft capsule should be taken with liquid 2 to 3 times daily with or after meals.

Duration of application

Treatment of an acute illness should be completed after 2 weeks.If there is no improvement within 2 to 5 days, you should consult a doctor.The duration of treatment for chronic illnesses should be discussed with a doctor.If used for more than 4 weeks, liver function values (transaminases) should be checked.

Side effects

In rare cases, upper abdominal discomfort and diarrhea can occur due to stimulation of motility.Very rarely, increases in liver function values (transaminases) and bilirubin, including drug-related jaundice (drug-toxic hepatitis), have been observed, which resolved again after the drug was discontinued.

Precautions and warnings

If you have a history of liver disease and/or simultaneous use of liver-damaging substances, Chelidonium capsules should only be used after consulting your doctor.If you are known to have gallstone disease, jaundice, dark urine or fever, as well as if you have persistent, unclear or new symptoms, you should consult a doctor.There is no adequately documented experience with use in children under 12 years of age.

Interactions with other agents

To date, there are no known interactions with other agents.

Storage

Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the container and the outer packaging.Do not store/keep above 25 °C!
