Mode of action

Calendula, also known as marigold, is a classic medicinal plant for treating wounds and inflammation.It inhibits the growth of inflammatory pathogens, promotes wound healing and the formation of new tissue.With its regenerating and protective abilities, calendula plays an important role in the production of Weleda products.

How does an abrasion occur?

A fall or friction on a rough surface causes the skin in the affected area to become abraded.This can be very painful because there are many sensitive nerve endings under the top layers of skin.The abrasion creates an irregular wound surface that oozes and burns.Small foreign bodies such as stones or sand can contaminate the wound, so the fresh wound should always be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected to prevent inflammation.

First aid for abrasions, scratches & superficial inflammations

Wounds should always be thoroughly cleaned immediately to prevent inflammation.Only lint-free material should be used for cleaning and bandaging, such as gauze or gauze pads.After cleaning, abrasions should be allowed to air dry until scabs begin to form.Do not apply ointment to fresh wounds.When bandaging cuts or lacerations, the edges of the wound should be pulled together as tightly as possible.If bleeding is severe, a pressure bandage should be applied.

Contraindications
