Instructions for use of Algesal cream

Algesal cream is a medicine for external use.The active ingredients diethylamine salicylate and myrtecaine belong to the group of anti-rheumatic drugs and have anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects.This product is available without a prescription.

Areas of application

Algesal Cream is used for the local supportive treatment of pain in the muscles, tendons and ligaments.These include rheumatic muscle and joint pain, bruises, sprains, strains, effusions, tendon and tendonitis and nerve pain (neuralgia).

Active ingredients and ingredients

The cream contains 100 mg of diethylammonium salicylate, 65.38 mg of salicylic acid and 10 mg of myrtecaine per 100 mg.The following excipients are also included: cetyl alcohol, ethylene distearate, glycerol monostearate, Labrafil, lavender oil, thin paraffin, PEG (60) castor oil, polyoxyethylene (30) monostearate, concentrated hydrochloric acid and purified water.

Contraindications

Algesal Cream must not be used in cases of known hypersensitivity to salicylates or any of the other ingredients, in pregnant women, infants and small children and in patients with kidney dysfunction.Long-term treatment on large areas should be avoided in these patient groups.

Dosage and application

The cream should always be used exactly as directed.Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, Algesal Cream should be spread thinly over the painful area up to three times a day and massaged in gently until the cream has been absorbed into the skin.To open the tube, unscrew the cap and use the mandrel on the cap to push through the protective membrane of the tube.

For rheumatic diseases, a treatment period of 3-4 weeks is sufficient in most cases; for blunt injuries (e.g. sports injuries) the treatment period can be up to 2 weeks.If symptoms persist, a doctor should be consulted.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Algesal cream can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.In rare cases, skin hypersensitivity reactions (skin redness) may occur.In asthmatics and patients with hypersensitivity to other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, there is a possibility of intolerance to Algesal cream.

After discontinuing the medication, the skin symptoms usually disappear quickly, so that no special measures are necessary.If in doubt, a doctor should be consulted.

Storage

Keep medicines out of the reach of children!The medicine must not be used after the expiry date stated on the folding box and tube fold.The medicine must not be disposed of in wastewater or household waste.Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicine if you no longer need it.This measure helps to protect the environment.
