Areas of application

Dolormin® Extra for pain and fever is a medication for the symptomatic short-term treatment of mild to moderate pain, such as headaches, toothaches and period pains.It can also be used for fever.The product is suitable for children weighing 20 kg or more (from 6 years), teenagers and adults.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients

The active ingredient in Dolormin® Extra is ibuprofen, specifically as ibuprofen-DL-lysine (1:1).This combination promotes faster absorption and effects of the ibuprofen.

Ingredients

In addition to the active ingredient ibuprofen, Dolormin® Extra contains the following other ingredients: microcrystalline cellulose, povidone (K 30), magnesium stearate (vegetable), titanium dioxide, hydroxypropylcellulose and hypromellose.

Mode of action

Ibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug and has pain-relieving, anti-inflammatory and fever-reducing effects.It inhibits the production of prostaglandins, which are involved in the development of pain, inflammation and fever.The combination with lysine improves the solubility and thus the effectiveness of ibuprofen.

Application

Dolormin® Extra film-coated tablets should be taken whole and with plenty of liquid, such as a glass of water.If you have a sensitive stomach, the tablets can also be taken with meals.The tablets are scored and can be divided into equal doses.

Dosage

The dosage depends on age and body weight.For children 6-9 years old (20-29 kg), the single dose is 200 mg ibuprofen (half a tablet), with a maximum daily dose of 600 mg.For children 10-11 years old (30-39 kg), the single dose is also 200 mg, with a maximum daily dose of 800 mg.Adolescents aged 12 and over and adults can take 200-400 mg in a single dose, although the maximum daily dose should not be exceeded 1200 mg.The dosing interval should not be less than 6 hours.

Contraindications

Dolormin® Extra should not be used in cases of hypersensitivity to the ingredients, ulcers in the digestive tract, active bleeding, severe liver or kidney dysfunction, severe, uncontrolled heart problems, in the last 3 months of pregnancy and in children weighing less than 20 kg (under 6 years).A doctor should be consulted before use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Side effects

Possible side effects include gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, heartburn, bloating, diarrhea, constipation and abdominal pain.Other possible side effects include headache, dizziness, insomnia, tiredness, irritability, agitation, skin hypersensitivity reactions, attacks of shortness of breath and visual disturbances.If tarry stools or visual disturbances occur, a doctor should be consulted immediately.

Important notes

Dolormin® Extra should not be used for longer than stated in the package leaflet without medical advice.If you have pain or fever, do not use for longer than 3 days in children and adolescents or 4 days in adults without medical advice.If symptoms last longer than 4 days, a doctor should be consulted.Reactivity may be impaired, particularly in higher doses or in combination with alcohol.Caution is advised in patients with nasal polyps, chronic respiratory infections, asthma or who are prone to allergic reactions.

Storage

The medicine should be stored away from heat.
