Instructions for use for Canesten GYN 3-day combination

Canesten GYN 3-day combination is a medicine for the treatment of fungal infections of the vagina.The active ingredient clotrimazole inhibits the growth and reproduction of fungal cells, such as yeast, and certain bacteria.This product is available without a prescription.

Areas of application

Canesten GYN 3-day combination is used for infectious discharge caused by yeast fungi, inflammation of the vagina and labia caused by fungi, mostly yeast fungi of the genus Candida, as well as superimposed infections with bacteria sensitive to clotrimazole.

Mode of action

Clotrimazole, the active ingredient in Canesten GYN 3-day combination, damages the outer shell of fungi, thereby inhibiting or killing them in their growth and reproduction.The active ingredient is also effective against certain bacteria.

Ingredients

The vaginal tablet contains 200 mg clotrimazole and the following excipients: calcium lactate pentahydrate, crospovidone, colloidal silicon dioxide, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, corn starch, hypromellose, microcrystalline cellulose and lactic acid.The cream contains 10 mg of clotrimazole per gram as well as the excipients benzyl alcohol, octyldodecanol, cetostearyl alcohol, cetyl palmitate, sorbitan stearate, polysorbate 60 and purified water.

Dosage and application

The recommended dose is one vaginal tablet per day, inserted as deep into the vagina as possible in the evening, for three consecutive days.The cream should be applied thinly to the affected skin areas 2-3 times a day and rubbed in.Treatment should not be carried out during menstruation.

Contraindications

Canesten GYN 3-day combination must not be used if you are allergic to clotrimazole, benzyl alcohol, cetostearyl alcohol or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.In children and adolescents under 18 years of age, the medicine should only be used after consulting a doctor or under medical supervision.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Canesten GYN 3-day combination can have side effects, although not everyone gets them.Possible side effects include skin hypersensitivity reactions such as burning or stinging, flushing, swelling of the face, tongue and larynx, shortness of breath, rash, hives, vulvovaginal itching, burning, flushing, peeling, discomfort, pain, vaginal bleeding, vaginal discharge, abdominal pain, nausea, skin irritation of the application site, edema and pain.

Storage

Keep this medicine out of the reach and reach of children.The medicine must not be used after the expiry date stated on the carton and containers.The cream has a shelf life of 3 months after opening.The medicine must not be disposed of in wastewater.Medicines that are no longer needed can be disposed of with household waste.
