Instructions for use for MELGISORB Ag bandage 10x10 cm, 10 pcs
Instructions for use for the article Melgisorb Ag dressing 10x10 cm
The Melgisorb Ag dressing is an antimicrobial alginate dressing containing a silver complex. It is particularly suitable for heavily exuding wounds and offers sustained antimicrobial effectiveness. The dressing absorbs up to 45% more exudate than other leading silver dressings and releases silver ions into the wound fluid, helping to combat a wide range of microorganisms. The structural stability of the fibers allows for residue-free removal when changing dressings.
No prescription is required for this product.
Product features
The Melgisorb Ag dressing is characterized by its excellent absorption capacity for deep, heavily exuding wounds. It provides sustained microbial effectiveness and protects the wound, thereby supporting autolytic debridement and facilitating wound healing. Thanks to the higher fiber strength, the bandage can be removed in one piece.
Application
Melgisorb Ag can be used on all moderately to heavily exuding, superficial and deeper wounds where an infection is present. These include postoperative wounds, traumatic wounds, leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, skin donor sites, wound cavities, and 1st and 2nd degree burns.Mepilex Border or Mextra Superabsorbent is suitable as a secondary dressing. We recommend Tubifast for fixation.Melgisorb Ag can be used, under the supervision of a healthcare professional, for infected wounds or wounds with an increased risk of infection.
Preparation of the area to be supplied
Clean and irrigate the wound according to standard protocols.Dry the healthy skin surrounding the wound.
Applying the bandage
Using sterile scissors, cut the bandage to the required size or fold it so that it completely covers the wound.Place it directly on the wound bed.Use it to loosely fill deep wounds and ensure that the dressing material does not protrude beyond the edges of the wound.Cover Melgisorb Ag with a non-occlusive secondary dressing.
Dressing change and removal
Melgisorb Ag can remain for up to 7 days. The frequency of dressing changes depends on the condition of the wound and the level of exudation.Initially, dressing changes may be required every 24 hours.Change Melgisorb AG if the secondary dressing becomes saturated with wound exudate or as indicated by normal clinical use.To do this, carefully remove the secondary dressing. If the wound appears dry, soak the dressing with a sterile saline solution before removing.Carefully remove the dressing from the wound bed and discard it.If necessary, rinse the wound according to medical standards before applying a new dressing.
