Instructions for use of Hamamelis Comp.ointment

Hamamelis comp.Ointment is an anthroposophic medicine used to treat skin inflammation and hemorrhoids.The ointment contains the active ingredients Hamamelis virginiana, Summitates distillata Ø and Stibium metallicum praeparatum Trit.D1.Areas of application include deforming chronic inflammatory changes in the skin, such as eczema, ulcers, fissures and hemorrhoids.

Application and dosage

Hamamelis comp.Ointment should be applied to the affected areas several times a day or used as an ointment bandage.To use as an ointment bandage, a piece of linen or cotton fabric is thinly coated with the ointment, placed with the ointment side over the affected areas and secured.The treatment should be completed after two weeks.If there is no improvement within this period, a doctor should be consulted.

Composition

10 g of the ointment contains 0.5 g Hamamelis virginiana, Summitates distillata Ø and 0.2 g Stibium metallicum praeparatum Trit.D1.The ointment base consists of refined sesame oil, lanolin, yellow wax, lanolin alcohols (which contain butylated hydroxytoluene) and purified water.

Warnings and precautions

Hamamelis comp.Ointment must not be used if you are hypersensitive to sesame oil or any of the other ingredients.Blood in the stool or bleeding from the intestinal anus area should always be checked by a doctor.The ointment should not be used in children under 12 years of age as there is no sufficiently documented experience.If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before use.

Hamamelis comp.Ointment contains substances that can often cause allergies when used over a long period of time in patients with poorly healing wounds or ulcers.Therefore, pay particular attention to the appearance of itching, redness and swelling of the surrounding skin.Wool wax and wool wax alcohols can cause localized skin reactions, and butylated hydroxytoluene can cause local skin irritation, irritation of the eyes and mucous membranes.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Hamamelis comp.Ointment have side effects.If you are hypersensitive to components of the ointment, especially wool wax alcohols, allergic reactions may occur.In rare cases, sesame oil can cause severe allergic reactions.If you notice any side effects, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Storage and shelf life

The medicine must not be used after the expiry date stated on the tube and carton.Do not store the ointment above 30°C.
