Area of application

This medicine is a mineral preparation that is used to treat magnesium deficiency states that require therapy unless an injection or infusion is necessary.It is used in cases of proven magnesium deficiency, which is the cause of muscle activity disorders such as neuromuscular disorders or leg cramps.

Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients

The film-coated tablets contain magnesium aspartate hydrochloride as the active ingredient.The following ingredients are also included: 1229.6 mg magnesium L-aspartate hydrochloride 3-water, 121.5 mg magnesium ion, 5 mmol magnesium ion, citric acid anhydrous, macrogol 6000, saccharin sodium salt, 3.2 g sucrose, 23 mg total sodium ion and lemon aroma.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to magnesium aspartate hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.The preparation should also not be used in cases of severe kidney dysfunction with inhibition of excretion (glomerular filtration rate < 30 ml/min) or if the body is dehydrated (exsiccosis).

Dosage

Always take this medicine exactly as described or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.The dosage depends on the extent of the magnesium deficiency and is at the discretion of the doctor.The recommended average daily dose is 0.185 mmol magnesium (4.5 mg) per kg of body weight.In the case of chronic and severe acute magnesium deficiency, the daily dose can be safely increased to 0.37 mmol magnesium (9 mg) per kg of body weight until the deficiency is eliminated, provided there are no contraindications.

The recommended dosage for adults and adolescents aged 15 and over is the contents of one sachet (corresponding to 121.5 - 364.5 mg magnesium) 1 to 3 times a day.Children aged 4 - 14 years should take the contents of one sachet (corresponding to 121.5 - 243.0 mg magnesium) once or twice a day.Children aged 1 - 3 years can receive the contents of one sachet (corresponding to 121.5 mg magnesium) once a day.This medicine should not be used in children under 1 year of age.

In case of kidney dysfunction, this medicine should not be taken by patients with severe kidney dysfunction.The product should be used with caution in cases of mild to moderate renal impairment.Ask your doctor at what dose and for how long you should take this magnesium supplement.

Due to insufficient data, there are no special dosage recommendations for patients with impaired liver function.

The duration of use depends on the extent of the magnesium deficiency and is at the discretion of the doctor.

If you take more than you should, the side effects mentioned may increase.Do not take a double dose if you forget to take the previous dose.

Intake

Please mix the contents of one sachet in half a glass of water, tea or fruit juice and drink the entire contents of the glass.The medicine should be taken before eating, as this improves absorption from the gastrointestinal tract into the bloodstream.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.Caution is required when using magnesium preparations if there is mild to moderate impairment of kidney function.The therapy should be closely monitored by the doctor.

As a precaution, use in children aged 1 - 3 years should be closely monitored and the dosage reduced or the preparation temporarily discontinued if diarrhea occurs.There is no sufficient experience with use in children under 1 year of age.The medicine should therefore not be used in children under 1 year of age.

No special precautions are required regarding the ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.The preparation can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding if the doctor considers it necessary.Experience with more than 1000 pregnancy outcomes does not indicate a risk of malformations or effects of magnesium on male or female fertility.Magnesium had no effects on breastfed newborns/infants of treated mothers.
