Valocordin doxylamine is a medicine in the form of oral drops.The active ingredient is doxylamine succinate.It is used to treat occasional sleep disorders in adults.The alcohol content is 55% by volume.No prescription is required for this product.
What Valocordin doxylamine is and what it is used for?
Valocordin doxylamine is an antihistamine used for the short-term treatment of sleep disorders.It helps with problems falling asleep or staying asleep.It is important to note that not all sleep disorders require medication.If sleep problems persist for a long time, a doctor should be consulted.
What should you consider before taking valocordin doxylamine?
Do not take Valocordin doxylamine if you are allergic to doxylamine succinate or any other ingredients of the medicine.The drug should also not be used in certain illnesses such as acute asthma attacks, angle-closure glaucoma, adrenal tumors, enlargement of the prostate gland, acute poisoning by alcohol or other psychotropic drugs, epilepsy and simultaneous treatment with monoamine oxidase inhibitors.Particular caution is required in cases of impaired liver function, heart failure, high blood pressure, chronic breathing difficulties, gastroesophageal reflux and certain gastrointestinal dysfunctions.Children and adolescents under 18 years of age should not take the medicine.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist about other medicines you are taking, as interactions are possible.Alcohol should be avoided during treatment.During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the medicine should only be taken after consulting a doctor.
How to take Valocordin doxylamine?
Always take Valocordin doxylamine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.The recommended dose for adults is 22 drops (equivalent to 25 mg of doxylamine succinate) about half an hour to an hour before bedtime.If you have more severe sleep disorders, up to 44 drops can be taken.The maximum daily dose should not be exceeded.Treatment should only last a few days and should not be continued for more than two weeks without medical advice.
If you take more than you should, symptoms such as restlessness, loss of consciousness, respiratory depression and cardiac arrest may occur.In this case, you should consult a doctor immediately.If you forget to take a dose, do not take a double dose but continue with the regular dosage.
