Areas of application

Dequonal is a ready-to-use medicine for use in the oral cavity.It is used for temporary supportive treatment for inflammation of the oral mucosa and for temporary use for bad breath caused by germ formation in the oral cavity.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Dequonal contains the active ingredients dequalinium chloride and benzalkonium chloride.Other ingredients include bitter fennel oil, ethanol 96%, glycerol, levomenthol, macrogol glycerol hydroxystearate, mint oil, peppermint oil, star anise oil and purified water.

Contraindications

Dequonal must not be used if you have known hypersensitivity to dequalinium, benzalkonium chloride or any of the other ingredients.It is not suitable for infants and young children under 2 years of age and for patients with bronchial asthma or other respiratory diseases associated with severe airway hypersensitivity.In addition, it should not be used on wounds.

Dosage and application

Dequonal should be rinsed with 5 ml of the solution undiluted in the morning and evening after eating.It is important to follow these application instructions to achieve the best effect.Dequonal should not be used long-term without medical or dental advice.If you have a fever or if the symptoms do not subside significantly after 3 days at the latest, you should consult a doctor.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Dequonal can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Possible side effects include hypersensitivity, discoloration of the tongue, teeth or dentures, local allergic and non-allergic reactions, taste disturbances, swelling of the throat mucosa, inflammation of the oral mucosa and delay in wound healing when applied to wounds.

Special Notes

Dequonal contains 6% alcohol by volume, which could be problematic for alcoholics.Benzalkonium chloride and macrogol glycerol hydroxystearate can cause skin irritation.Eye contact with the medicine should be avoided.Dequonal should only be used in children if they have mastered the gargling technique.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

There are insufficient data on the safety of using Dequonal in pregnant women.Breastfeeding women should only use Dequonal if their doctor thinks it is absolutely necessary.

Storage

Dequonal should be stored at a temperature not exceeding 25°C.After opening, the solution has a shelf life of 3 months.All medicines should be kept out of the reach of children.
