Instructions for use of Tannacomp film-coated tablets

Tannacomp film-coated tablets are a gastrointestinal drug that is used to treat acute non-specific diarrhea and to prevent and treat traveler's diarrhea.The product is available without a prescription.

Areas of application

Tannacomp film-coated tablets are used for acute non-specific diarrhea and to prevent and treat traveler's diarrhea.They are suitable for adults, teenagers and children aged 5 and over.

Active ingredients and composition

Each film-coated tablet contains 500 mg tannin albuminate and 50 mg ethacridine lactate monohydrate as active ingredients.The other ingredients include microcrystalline cellulose, carboxymethyl starch sodium (type A), colloidal silica, talc, magnesium stearate (vegetable), purified water, poly(vinyl alcohol), macrogol 3350, titanium dioxide, iron (III) hydroxide oxide x H2O and iron (III) oxide.

Application and dosage

Always take Tannacomp film-coated tablets exactly as described in the package leaflet or after consulting your doctor or pharmacist.The dose and frequency depend on the severity of the diarrheal illness.The usual dose is:

Children 5-14 years: 1 film-coated tablet 3 to 4 times daily.

Adults and adolescents aged 15 and over: 1-2 film-coated tablets 4 times daily.

Adults for prevention: 1 film-coated tablet twice a day.

The film-coated tablets are taken before or with meals with enough liquid.If necessary, you can also crush the film-coated tablets and mix them with food or drinks.Tannacomp should be taken regularly until the diarrhea subsides.

Special Notes

If diarrhea is severe, especially if it is accompanied by fever and/or bloody stools, you should consult a doctor.If you don't feel better after 3-4 days or even feel worse, contact your doctor.

In children and older people, diarrhea, especially in combination with vomiting, can quickly lead to a dangerous loss of water and electrolytes.Therefore, special attention must be paid to adequate replacement of water and electrolytes.

Contraindications

Tannacomp film-coated tablets must not be used if you are hypersensitive to the ingredients.Children under 5 years of age may only use the medicine after consulting a doctor or under medical supervision.If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Storage

Keep Tannacomp film-coated tablets out of the reach of children and do not store them above 30°C.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the blister pack and carton.Do not throw away medicines via wastewater or household waste.Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicine when you no longer use it.

Mode of action

Tannacomp film-coated tablets contain an active ingredient combination of tannin albuminate and ethacridine lactate monohydrate.Ethacridine normalizes the increased movement of the intestines thanks to its antispasmodic effect and has antibacterial effects.Tannin breaks down in the digestive tract and causes the hair vessels in the mucous membrane to contract, making it more difficult for harmful substances to be absorbed.This normalizes the irritated intestinal lining and helps fight diarrhea.
