Tannacomp film-coated tablets are a gastrointestinal drug that is used to treat acute non-specific diarrhea and to prevent and treat traveler's diarrhea.The product is an antidiarrheal and helps to relieve the symptoms of diarrhea and normalize intestinal function.No prescription is required for this product.

A doctor should be consulted, especially if diarrhea is severe and is accompanied by fever or bloody stools, as specific treatment may be necessary.If symptoms do not improve after 3 to 4 days or even worsen, medical advice should also be sought.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Each film-coated tablet contains 500 mg tannin albuminate and 50 mg ethacridine lactate monohydrate as active ingredients.Other ingredients include microcrystalline cellulose, carboxymethyl starch sodium, colloidal silica, talc, magnesium stearate, purified water, poly(vinyl alcohol), macrogol 3350, titanium dioxide, iron (III) hydroxide oxide x H2O and iron (III) oxide.

Dosage and application

The dose and frequency of intake depend on the severity of the diarrheal illness.Unless directed by a doctor, the usual dose for children between 5 and 14 years of age is one film-coated tablet 3 to 4 times a day.Adults and adolescents aged 15 and over can take 1 to 2 film-coated tablets 4 times daily.To prevent traveler's diarrhea, adults take 1 film-coated tablet twice a day.

The film-coated tablets should be taken before or with meals with sufficient liquid.If necessary, they can also be chopped up and mixed with food or drinks.Particularly in children and older people, it is important to ensure that sufficient water and electrolytes are replaced in order to prevent dangerous fluid loss.

Tannacomp film-coated tablets should be taken regularly until the diarrhea subsides.There are no known serious health problems resulting from an overdose.If you forget to take a dose, you should not take a double dose.If you stop taking the medication, the symptoms may recur.

Contraindications

Tannacomp film-coated tablets must not be taken if there is hypersensitivity to tannin albuminate, ethacridine lactate monohydrate or any of the other ingredients.Children under 5 years of age should only use the medicine after consulting a doctor or under medical supervision.Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor or pharmacist before taking it.

Side effects

Storage

The medicine should be kept out of the reach of children and not stored above 30°C.It must not be used after the expiry date stated on the packaging.Medicines should not be disposed of in wastewater or household waste.Ask your pharmacist how to properly dispose of the medicine.

Mode of action

Tannacomp film-coated tablets contain an active ingredient combination of tannin albuminate and ethacridine lactate monohydrate.Ethacridine has an antispasmodic, antibacterial effect and reduces the permeability of the intestinal wall to fluids.Tannin albuminate breaks down in the digestive tract and causes the hair vessels in the mucous membrane to contract, making it more difficult for harmful substances to be absorbed.This helps to normalize the irritated intestinal mucosa and relieve diarrhea.
