WICK MediNait cold syrup for the night is a product that is used for the symptomatic treatment of cold symptoms.It helps with headaches, body aches or sore throats, fever, runny nose and dry coughs caused by a cold or flu-like infection.No prescription is required for this product.
The syrup contains 18% alcohol by volume, sucrose (sugar) and sodium.The active ingredients are paracetamol, dextromethorphan hydrobromide, (-)-ephedrine hemisulfate and doxylamine succinate.Other ingredients include purified water, sucrose, ethanol 96%, glycerol, macrogol 6000, sodium citrate x 2 H2O, citric acid monohydrate, sodium benzoate, anethole, quinoline yellow (E 104) and brilliant blue FCF (E 133).

Contraindications
The medicine must not be used in cases of hypersensitivity to the ingredients, epilepsy, brain damage, bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive respiratory disease, respiratory weakness up to respiratory paralysis, pneumonia, heart disease, high blood pressure, thyroid disease, increased intraocular pressure (glaucoma), pheochromocytoma, enlarged prostate with residual urine formation, reflux esophagitis, impaired kidney function, impaired liver function, Gilbert's syndrome and diabetes mellitus.Children under 16 years of age must not use the medicine.During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the medicine should only be taken after consulting a doctor.

Only side effects that have so far only occurred in exceptional cases are described for the drug. If you notice any discomfort or change during treatment, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Composition
The active ingredients of the drug are doxylamine hydrogensuccinate, doxylamine, ephedrine hemisulfate, (-)-ephedrine, dextromethorphan hydrobromide-1-water, dextromethorphan and paracetamol.The excipients include sucrose, ethanol 96%, glycerol, macrogol 6000, citric acid monohydrate, sodium benzoate, benzoate anion, sodium citrate-2-water, sodium ion, anethole, quinoline yellow, brilliant blue FCF and purified water.
Mode of action
Doxylamine blocks histamine receptors and has a calming effect.Dextromethorphan stops the urge to cough by shutting down the cough center in the brain.Paracetamol has an analgesic and antipyretic effect by blocking the formation of prostaglandins.
Important notes
The ability to react can also be impaired when used as intended, especially in higher doses or in combination with alcohol.Habitual use of painkillers can cause permanent kidney damage.If you drink alcohol regularly or at high levels, life-threatening conditions can arise due to existing liver damage if the medicine is also used.Be careful if you are allergic to painkillers or dyes.The medicine contains alcohol and therefore poses a risk for liver patients, alcoholics, epileptics, brain-damaged people, pregnant women, breast-feeding mothers and children. Be careful if you are intolerant to sucrose.There may be medicines with which interactions occur.
Storage
The medicine must be protected from heat and stored in the dark (e.g. in the outer box).
