Instructions for use of Helixor A 30 mg

Helixor® A/-M/-P injection solution contains an extract of fresh mistletoe as the active ingredient in a dilution of 1:20.It is produced with pine mistletoe for Helixor® A, apple tree mistletoe for Helixor® M and pine mistletoe for Helixor® P. The amount of fresh plant used per ampoule is given in milligrams.Water for injections and sodium chloride in a ratio of 99.91:0.09 are used as extractants.

This anthroposophical medicine is used in adults to treat malignant and benign tumor diseases, accompanying disorders of the hematopoietic organs, defined precancerous lesions and to prevent relapses after tumor operations.No prescription is required for this product.

Application and dosage

Helixor® is injected subcutaneously, if possible in the vicinity of the tumor or metastases, otherwise in different locations of the intact skin.The usual dosage is 2 to 3 injections per week.Therapy begins with a low dose, which is gradually increased until the optimal effect is achieved.The individual dosage depends on the patient's reactions, such as changes in condition, temperature reactions, immunological reactions and local inflammatory reactions at the injection site.

Dose adjustment may be necessary during radiation or chemotherapy.In the maintenance phase, treatment continues at the optimal individual dose, with rhythmic applications and breaks recommended to avoid habituation effects.

Side effects and precautions

Possible side effects include a slight increase in body temperature, local inflammatory reactions at the injection site and temporary swelling of regional lymph nodes.For more severe reactions such as fever over 38 °C or larger local reactions over 5 cm in diameter, the next injection should be given in a reduced dose.Allergic reactions, activation of pre-existing inflammation and inflammatory irritation of superficial veins in the injection area are also possible.

Helixor® must not be used in cases of hypersensitivity to mistletoe preparations, acute inflammatory or high fever diseases, chronic granulomatous diseases and autoimmune diseases with severe symptoms, under immunosuppressive treatment and in cases of hyperthyroidism with palpitations.In the event of an overdose, excessive inflammatory reactions may occur, which should be treated with cool moist compresses or anti-inflammatory ointments.

Storage

Keep medicines out of the reach of children.Note the expiry date on each ampoule and box.Store the ampoules in the original packaging to protect the contents from light and store in the refrigerator.

1 ml injection solution (1 ampoule) Helixor® contains an extract of fresh pine mistletoe, apple tree mistletoe or pine mistletoe in a ratio of 1:20.The amount of extract varies depending on the strength of the ampoule.Helixor® is available in original packs of 8 ampoules, bulk packs of 50 ampoules and serial packs of 7 ampoules in increasing concentrations.
