Helixor® A/-M/-P injection solution contains an extract of fresh mistletoe as the active ingredient in a ratio of 1:20.Depending on the variant, it is made from pine mistletoe, apple tree mistletoe or pine mistletoe.The amount of fresh plant used to make one ampoule is given in milligrams.The extractants used are water for injections and sodium chloride in a ratio of 99.91 to 0.09.

Helixor® is used in accordance with anthroposophical knowledge of humanity and nature.It is used in adults to treat malignant and benign tumor diseases, including accompanying disorders of the blood-forming organs, as well as to prevent relapses after tumor operations and in defined precancerous lesions.

Application and dosage

Helixor® is injected subcutaneously, if possible in the vicinity of the tumor or metastases, otherwise in different locations of the intact skin.The usual dose is 2 to 3 injections per week.Therapy begins with a low dose, which is gradually increased until an optimal individual dose is reached.This dose is then continued in the maintenance phase, with rhythmic applications and breaks recommended.

The exact dosage and treatment regimen depend on the stage of the disease and the individual reaction of the patient.If you have radiation or chemotherapy, a dose reduction may be necessary.

Side effects and precautions

Possible side effects include a slight increase in body temperature, localized inflammatory reactions around the injection site, and temporary swelling of regional lymph nodes.If you have a fever over 38°C or major local reactions, the next injection should only be given after these symptoms have subsided and in a reduced dose.

Helixor® must not be used in cases of hypersensitivity to mistletoe preparations, acute inflammatory or high fever diseases, chronic granulomatous diseases and autoimmune diseases with severe symptoms, as well as hyperthyroidism with palpitations.Particular caution is required in the case of hypersensitivity to other substances and in the case of primary brain and spinal cord tumors or intracranial metastases with the risk of an increase in intracranial pressure.

Composition and storage

One ampoule of Helixor® contains the extract from fresh mistletoe in different concentrations, depending on the variant.The other ingredients are table salt, sodium hydroxide and, at certain concentrations, additional water for injection purposes.

Helixor® should be kept out of the reach of children and should not be used after the expiry date.The ampoules must be stored in the original packaging protected from light.Helixor® 0.01 mg and 0.1 mg should be stored in a refrigerator, while the other concentrations should not be stored above 30 °C.
