Active ingredient and composition

Helixor M is an injection solution that contains an extract of fresh apple tree mistletoe (Viscum album ssp. album) in a ratio of 1:20 as the active ingredient.Water for injections and sodium chloride (99.91:0.09) are used as extractants.One ampoule contains 20 mg, 30 mg or 50 mg of fresh plant.The preparation also contains sodium hydroxide and water for injections.

Areas of application

Helixor M is used in accordance with anthroposophical knowledge of humanity and nature.In adults, this includes stimulating form and integration forces to dissolve and reintegrate independent growth processes.This includes malignant and benign tumor diseases, malignant diseases of the hematopoietic organs, defined precancerous lesions and recurrence prevention after tumor operations.

Application and dosage

Helixor M is injected subcutaneously, if possible near the tumor or metastasis or in different areas of the intact skin.The usual dose is 2-3 injections per week.Therapy usually begins with a low dose, which is gradually increased until the optimal individual dose is determined.This will then continue to be used in the maintenance phase.The exact dosage and treatment regimen depend on the stage of the disease and the patient's response.

A reduction in dose may be necessary during radiation or chemotherapy.After longer breaks in treatment, the dose should initially be reduced to half.The application is carried out as directed by the doctor.

Side effects and precautions

Possible side effects include a slight increase in body temperature, localized inflammatory reactions around the injection site, and temporary mild swelling of regional lymph nodes.If there is a fever over 38 °C or major local reactions over 5 cm in diameter, the next injection should only be given after these symptoms have subsided and at a reduced strength or dose.

Allergic or allergy-like reactions, activation of pre-existing inflammation and inflammatory irritation of superficial veins in the injection area are possible.In such cases, a temporary break from therapy is necessary.

Helixor M must not be used in cases of hypersensitivity to mistletoe preparations, acute inflammatory or high fever diseases, chronic granulomatous diseases and autoimmune diseases with severe symptoms, under immunosuppressive treatment and in cases of hyperthyroidism with palpitations.

Storage

Helixor M should be kept out of the reach of children and stored in the refrigerator.The ampoules must be stored in the original packaging protected from light.Please note the expiry date on the ampoule and box.
