The Mucosolvan inhalation solution 15 mg/2 ml is used for the mucus-dissolving treatment in acute and chronic diseases of the bronchi and lungs with thick mucus.It helps to liquefy mucus and make it easier to cough up.The product is available without a prescription.

Mode of action

In diseases of the bronchi and respiratory tract, the natural cleansing mechanism is disrupted and accumulated secretions collect in the lungs.The mucus remains in the bronchi and prevents the transport of oxygen.At the same time, the cilia stick together in the lung tissue and the mucus can no longer be removed, which leads to a constant urge to cough.

The Mucosolvan inhalation solution uses the active ingredient ambroxol hydrochloride to dissolve the thick mucus in the bronchi and lungs, making it easier for you to cough up.The secretion becomes thinner and can be removed more easily.Ambroxol activates the cilia in the lungs, which then beat more forcefully and move the secretion out of the lungs more easily.This also relieves the urge to cough.

Active ingredients and ingredients

2 ml of the Mucosolvan inhalation solution contains 15 mg ambroxol hydrochloride as the active ingredient.Other ingredients include benzalkonium chloride, citric acid monohydrate, sodium monohydrogen phosphate dihydrate, sodium chloride and purified water.

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients, the product should not be used.Caution is also advised when taking cough suppressants at the same time, as the cough reflex can be reduced, which can lead to a dangerous build-up of secretions.In this case, the product should only be taken after consulting a doctor.

The product should not be used during the first three months of pregnancy and beyond as the active ingredient can reach the unborn child.Its use is also not recommended during breastfeeding.

Dosage

The Mucosolvan inhalation solution can be inhaled once or twice a day with 2-3 ml.This corresponds to a dose of 15-22.5 mg ambroxol hydrochloride.The solution can be used with all modern inhalation devices that do not work on the steam boiler principle, such as ultrasonic or compressor nebulizers.

If the condition worsens or there is no improvement after 4-5 days, you should consult a doctor.

Application

The inhalation solution is intended for inhalation and can be used with all modern inhalation devices that do not work on the steam boiler principle.Heating the solution to 80 °C for 10 minutes does not affect the effect.The solution is miscible with normal saline and beta-sympathomimetics, but should not be mixed with cromoglicic acid.

In order to achieve optimal humidification of the breathing air, the solution should be mixed with physiological saline solution 1:1.Mixing with alkaline solutions should be avoided as clouding or flocculation may occur.The inhalation solution is compatible with the mucous membranes, but can trigger a cough if inhaled too deeply.Therefore, you should breathe in and out normally.Before use, the solution should be warmed to body temperature.

After use, the dosing aid should be rinsed with warm water.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

Ambroxol reaches the unborn child.You should not use this medicine during pregnancy, especially during the first three months.

The active ingredient ambroxol passes into breast milk in animal experiments.Use during breastfeeding is not recommended.
