GeloMyrtol® forte is a herbal medicine that is used to loosen mucus and facilitate coughing in acute and chronic bronchitis as well as inflammation of the nasal sinuses (sinusitis).It is suitable for adults, teenagers and children aged 6 and over.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients

The active ingredient in GeloMyrtol® forte is a distillate made from a mixture of rectified eucalyptus oil, rectified sweet orange oil, rectified myrtle oil and rectified lemon oil in a ratio of 66:32:1:1.These essential oils are obtained through a special distillation process and are contained in a high concentration in the enteric-coated soft capsules.

Other components

The other ingredients of GeloMyrtol® forte are refined rapeseed oil, gelatin, glycerol 85%, sorbitol solution 70% (non-crystallizing), hypromellose acetate succinate, triethyl citrate, sodium dodecyl sulfate, talc, dextrin and ammonium glycyrrhizate.

Mode of action

The essential oils in GeloMyrtol® forte act as herbal expectorants.They stimulate the fine hairs of the upper respiratory tract to move faster, which means that stuck mucus is removed better and coughing up is made easier.At the same time they reduce the cough spasm.The enteric-coated soft capsules are gluten- and lactose-free and can also be taken if you have diabetes mellitus.

Dosage and application

GeloMyrtol® forte should be taken half an hour before eating with plenty of cold liquid.The dosage depends on age and the clinical picture:

For acute clinical pictures:

• Adults and adolescents aged 12 and over: 1 capsule 3-4 times daily
• Children 10-12 years (30-43 kg): 1 capsule 2-3 times daily
• Children 6-10 years (20-29 kg): 1 capsule twice daily
• Children under 6 years (13-19 kg): 1 capsule once daily

For chronic illnesses:

• Adults and adolescents aged 12 and over: 1 capsule 2-3 times daily
• Children 10-12 years (30-43 kg): 1 capsule twice daily
• Children 6-10 years (20-29 kg): 1 capsule 1-2 times daily
• Children under 6 years (13-19 kg): 1 capsule once daily

The duration of treatment depends on the clinical picture.Long-term treatment is possible for chronic illnesses.

Contraindications

GeloMyrtol® forte must not be used if you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients, especially Myrtol, eucalyptus oil, sweet orange oil, myrtle oil, lemon oil and/or cineole (from eucalyptus oil), inflammatory diseases in the gastrointestinal area and the bile duct area, and in severe liver diseases.Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding should only be carried out after careful risk-benefit assessment by a doctor.

Possible side effects include gastrointestinal complaints such as abdominal pain.If symptoms persist or worsen, you should consult a doctor.

Notes

GeloMyrtol® forte can be taken together with an antibiotic.It should be kept out of the reach of children.If symptoms persist or worsen, shortness of breath, fever, or purulent or bloody sputum occur, you should consult a doctor immediately.The capsules must not be opened to treat children and the capsule contents must not be used for inhalation or mixed with children's food or drinks.Patients with bronchial asthma, whooping cough or other respiratory diseases that are associated with severe hypersensitivity of the airways should only take the preparation after consulting their doctor.
