Instructions for use for FERRUM HAUSMANN Syrup, 200 ml
Area of application
Ferrum Hausmann syrup is used for iron deficiency conditions.Our body cannot produce iron itself, so we rely on an external supply.The need for iron is particularly increased during pregnancy, breastfeeding and during growth.Ferrum Hausmann syrup contains a special complex of iron and a starch-like compound.

Ferrum Hausmann syrup contains 172.5-200 mg iron (III) hydroxide polymaltose complex, which corresponds to 50 mg iron.Other ingredients include sodium methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, sodium propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, sorbitol solution 70%, sucrose, purified water, cream flavor and sodium hydroxide.
Contraindications
Ferrum Hausmann syrup must not be used if you are hypersensitive to iron (III) hydroxide polymaltose complex, sodium methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, sodium propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate or any of the other ingredients.Its use is also contraindicated in cases of severe liver and kidney diseases, hemochromatosis, iron utilization disorders, anemia due to infections or tumors, hemolytic anemia or iron overload.
Dosage
Always take Ferrum Hausmann Syrup exactly according to the instructions in the package leaflet.The usual dose for infants and young children is 2.5-5 ml per day, for children 5-10 ml per day and for adults 10-20 ml per day.It should be taken with or immediately after meals.The duration of treatment depends on the iron metabolism and the normalization of the red blood count.After normalization, therapy should be continued for another 1-2 months to replenish iron reserves.
Intake
Ferrum Hausmann Syrup is a solution for oral consumption.It can be mixed with baby food, fruit and vegetable juices.A slight brown coloring of the food is harmless and does not affect the taste.
Patient information
Particular caution is required in diseases of the gastrointestinal tract such as gastritis, stomach and intestinal ulcers and inflammatory bowel diseases.In these cases, the benefits and risks should be weighed against each other.No special precautions are required for taking it.
Pregnancy
The safety of Ferrum Hausmann syrup during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been studied.Its use is not recommended unless treatment is necessary based on a medical diagnosis.The intake should be carefully considered for pregnant and breastfeeding women.

Other
Ferrum Hausmann syrup does not stain teeth and does not have an annoying metallic taste.While taking it, the stool may turn harmless black.Iron can cause constipation.Blood values should be checked approximately every 4 weeks.
Side effects
Very rarely, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, stomach discomfort, indigestion and vomiting may occur.Rarely, skin reactions such as hives, redness, rash and itching may occur.A dark coloring of the stool is harmless.
Storage
Ferrum Hausmann syrup should be stored at a temperature not exceeding 25°C.Once opened, the syrup has a shelf life of 2 months.Medicines should be kept out of the reach of children.
