Instructions for use of Camphora/Hypericum ointment

Areas of application

Camphora/Hypericum ointment is an anthroposophical medicine that is used for rheumatic diseases, nerve pain and nervous heart tightness.According to the anthroposophical knowledge of humanity and nature, it can help to stimulate the heat organization in rheumatic diseases, degenerative joint diseases, nerve pain and nervous heart tension.

Active ingredients and composition

The ointment contains the following active ingredients: D-camphor and an oil extract from Hypericum perforatum, Herba rec.(4:1), where the extractant is refined peanut oil.Other ingredients include white petroleum jelly and wool wax.

10 G of the ointment contains: D-camphor 0.25 g and oil extract from Hypericum perforatum, Herba rec.(4:1) 2.0g.

Contraindications

Camphora/Hypericum ointment must not be used on damaged skin, for example in the case of burns.Due to the camphor content, the ointment should not be used by pregnant or breastfeeding women or children under 7 years of age.The medicine must also not be used if you are hypersensitive to camphor, the other active ingredient, peanut oil, soy or one of the other ingredients.

Precautions and warnings

In the case of acute conditions that are accompanied by redness, swelling or overheating of joints, as well as persistent symptoms, a doctor should be consulted.If you have pain in the heart area that can radiate to the arms, upper abdomen or neck area, or if you have shortness of breath, a medical evaluation is essential.Contact of the drug with the eyes should be avoided and it should not be used in the area of mucous membranes.After use, hands should be cleaned thoroughly.There is no sufficiently documented experience for use in children aged 7 to 12 years, so the ointment should not be used at this age.Wool wax can cause localized skin irritation.

Interactions

To date, there are no known interactions with other medications.

Dosage and method of administration

Unless otherwise prescribed, the ointment should be rubbed in 1 to 3 times a day.Treatment of an acute illness should be completed after two weeks.If there is no improvement within 2-3 days, you should consult a doctor.The duration of treatment for chronic diseases should be discussed with your doctor.

Side effects

Peanut oil can rarely cause severe allergic reactions.Very rarely, photosensitization or redness of the skin may occur, requiring discontinuation of the drug.In appropriately sensitized patients, Camphora/Hypericum ointment can trigger hypersensitivity reactions such as contact eczema or shortness of breath.

Information on storage and shelf life

Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the container and the outer packaging.The ointment should not be stored above 25 °C.
