Instructions for use of Cefazink 20 mg film-coated tablets

Cefazink® 20 mg film-coated tablets contain the active ingredient zinc D-gluconate, which corresponds to a dose of 20 mg zinc.This preparation is a mineral preparation that is used to treat proven zinc deficiency as well as in therapies with penicillamine and other complexing agents.No prescription is required for this product.

Areas of application

Cefazink® 20 mg film-coated tablets are used in cases of proven zinc deficiency and to support therapies with penicillamine and other complexing agents.The medicine is intended for adults and children.

What should you consider before taking it?

Cefazink® 20 mg must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to zinc D-gluconate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.If zinc is used for a long time, copper and copper should also be monitored in the laboratory.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.Taking zinc and iron salts or copper salts at the same time can reduce the absorption of zinc into the bloodstream.Zinc can affect the availability of copper.The effectiveness of certain antibiotics can be reduced if zinc is taken at the same time.Taking complexing agents such as D-penicillamine can reduce the absorption of zinc or increase its excretion.Therefore, keep an interval of at least 2 hours between taking Cefazink® 20 mg and these preparations.

Foods high in phytins, such as grain products, legumes and nuts, can reduce zinc absorption.Coffee can also interfere with the absorption of zinc.

If used as directed, there are no restrictions in the recommended dose range when taking Cefazink® 20 mg during pregnancy and breastfeeding.Before taking any medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Effects on the ability to drive and use machines are not expected.

Cefazink® 20 mg is gluten-free and contains no usable carbohydrates (0 BE).

How should Cefazink® 20 mg be taken?

Always take Cefazink® 20 mg exactly as described in the package leaflet or after consulting your doctor or pharmacist.The usual dose is 1 film-coated tablet daily, both in cases of proven zinc deficiency and in treatments with penicillamine and other complexing agents.

Take the film-coated tablets with enough liquid and well before meals, as the absorption of zinc through food may be impaired.

The duration of application depends on needs and the success of the treatment.Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you think the effect is too strong or too weak.

An overdose may cause a metallic taste on the tongue, headache, diarrhea and vomiting.In this case, stop taking it and ask your doctor for advice.Do not take a double dose if you forget to take a dose.

Discontinuing Cefazink® 20 mg is usually harmless.

What side effects are possible?

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Nausea or vomiting may occur when taking Cefazink® 20 mg.The frequency cannot be estimated based on the available data.If you notice any side effects, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

How should Cefazink® 20 mg be stored?

Keep this medicine out of the reach and reach of children.Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the blister pack and carton.This medicine does not require any special storage conditions.

The active ingredient is 140 mg zinc D-gluconate, equivalent to 20 mg zinc.The other ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, ethyl cellulose and triethyl citrate.

Cefazink® 20 mg film-coated tablets are white, biconvex, round film-coated tablets without a score line. The packs contain 20, 60 or 100 film-coated tablets.
